Just got back - groceries are so expensive!

Arrived home this morning. Just the two of us but grocery and toiletry shopping is so expensive compared to here. Its a real eye opener. Had to buy a pack of 18 tampons yesterday $5.29 from Walgreens! $4.29 for cereal. The exchange rate doesnt help obviously.

We now take toiletries and cereal and dump what we don’t use , my dh went and got me some s towels back in 2013 and they were $7.99 ! weetabix are also extortionate . Our cases are always half full going out anyway so weight is never an issue .

Things like sanitary products are always on sale frequently so you lose out if you can't stock up like the locals do. CVS and Walgreens have so many special offers for cardholders as well that I am sure they raise the regular prices to make up for it.

As for shampoo etc the stuff in Dollar Tree is fine and certainly cheap enough if there is one near you.

We’ve noticed the last few years food shopping has definitely risen but if you know where to look and what your after it can be gotten cheaper like dollar tree as above!
The wife takes her own sanitary products as she’s always said they’re silly prices too!

We use Aldi a lot for the basics , milk bread and their cereals are quite good. Where we go in Bradenton there is a neighbourhood Walmart across the street and they price match Aldi for Milk bread etc.
As others have said Dollar tree is well worth a look

Is it ok taking cereals etc in your case? I’d always have thought customs would be funny about it?
