August 2020 Plan
Our clockwise loop plan for August 2020:
5 Nights LA (Beverly Hills) 1 Night Morro Bay 1 Night Monterey 2 Nights San Fran 1 Night Mammoth Lakes 1 Night Death Valley 2 Nights Vegas 5 Nights Anaheim https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=1yDt3pc35Ai3F5j2ukX2kS0G6jp1N17_F&hl=en &usp=sharing My wife has a knackered knee so can't really do all the hikes in Yosemite, hence the lack of a stop-over and a drive thru via CA120. It's a lot of driving on the 9 days between the LA and Anaheim bits but I'm hoping it's good driving with so much to see? We're not picking the car up until the last day of our initial 5 nights in LA but have booked a convertible for 2 of those. Any thoughts on what to see whilst we have the roof down for those 2 days (other days we were just going to Uber to the beach).

I would almost certainly reduce your time in LA and Anaheim and add more time to either Monterey, San Fran and/or add a night in Yosemite. You may not be able to do the hikes but there is plenty to see without doing anything too strenuous.
We had 2 nights in LA this summer and it was plenty of time to see the main sights |

I would also reduce the time in LA and Anaheim. Yosemite is awesome even if you are not out hiking. I stayed in Santa Barbara between LA and Monterey, which was lovely.

Santa Barbara looked really nice but I wanted to get as far up the coast on that first drive to make the most of PCH the next day. Although that might not now be an issue for me if reducing time in LA.

Hi like the others, I would suggest another night Monterey as there is so much to see and would hope you could go whale watching. For yosemite again we would suggest 2 nights, you will arrive mid day and we suggest you do the valley floor tour ( on an open bus type vehicle ) follow this with some tome in the valley .next day drive to glacier point for the fantastic views, some time at tunnel view, stop by at El capitan, drive towards half dome and spend some time in the meadow. All this can be done with limited mobility. Just being there is awsome. You then can leave via tioga pass and again fantastic. Would also add another night in vegas and make sure to book a couple of shows, we did 2 cirque de soleil shows which we enjoyed.
Have a look at the blue butterfly bb in yosemite at El portal. Very close to entrance of the park, or yosemite view lodge. |

Can I throw in a suggestion of a night or two at rush creek lodge in yosemite. Just stayed there and it is utterly amazing and very relaxing. My knee is also goosed so no hiking but loved staying there.

Thanks all. I'll do a bit more investigation on Yosemite and see if I can persuade my daughters to have less time in LA. Sounds like we need to be in the valley at Yosemite to really appreciate it.

Another one here for less time in LA. We did four nights and it was too many. Hoping to return to the West Coast next year and would totally miss LA but DD’s BF hasn’t been so we’re looking at three nights there.
