Flights from Orlando to NYC and back

Hi all
We are planning our next trip over the pond for 2021 or 2022 depending on CV 19. we want to have a few days in NYC and could fly via NYC then on to Orlando, but has anyone booked internal USA flights after they have arrived in the USA? or is it best to book from the UK?.

We’ve flown from Vegas to Orlando a couple of times but always book from the UK as soon as internal flights are released.

How far in advance do they release the internal flights?.

I think each airline might differ but southwest (who we use for Vegas to Orlando) have flights though to March at the moment.

I think New York to Orlando would probably be Jet Blue, Delta or United?

Internal USA flights get more expensive close to departure date so best to book in advance. I use JetBlue to Orlando when paying cash and you can book about 8ish months is advance. I've always booked August in January. American and Delta are 330 days in advance.

You could also just book as a multi city ticket with the airline that includes your transatlantic and your internal.

This was our trip that we should be going on in 2 weeks time ! We booked the whole trip together flights were virgin and delta.
Shall look forwards to re booking and planning again 2022.

If booking all separate, you will have to think of the luggage, as it will not be a through ticket. 🙂

No issues with the luggage as the internal flight will be a few days after and the return will be direct.

I used southwest for this a few years ago. 2 free checked bags came as standard on their tickets. Cost under $100 each booking in advance. I wouldn’t risk waiting until you’re there as you’ll be stuck with whatever price it is. Would highly recommend Southwest.
There’s no need to book a return. Just book your main flights into New York and back from Orlando.

We booked with BA as a package deal. Indirect via Ny with a two day stopover, and then direct back to the UK. Adding the NYC hotels and Orlando car hire made it a package and much cheaper than just flight only.

As you are looking at returning direct from Orlando I’d look at a multi city ticket as it may not be that much extra for the internal flight.
