I’m trying Our first Hello Fresh at the moment, first box had a huge discount. We chose 3 meals, first one was ok, second was very nice we have one more more to go.
There were 3 cartons of chopped tomatoes missing from our box though they’ve given us a discount off the next shop. I can see it is great for trying new meals and not having to buy jars Of spices etc that you’ll never uses again but I need to go and review costs as for the meals the ingredients were quite basic and the meals easily replicated at home, saying that it is convenient. I’m interested to read other reviews 😊

So after a family meeting we have decided to go with the gousto box as a trial and see how we get on with it. We have a budding (teenage) chef in the house at the moment who is very keen to give it a go and cook sometimes! (Like we are not going to argue with that!)

If it helps us 1. Sort portion size out, 2. Broaden our tastebuds, 3. Makes one of the house eat more veg ... then it's a winner!

My friend has had an issue with Hello Fresh. She had a few boxes and then cancelled it.
A few months later she was considering starting again and looked at the app to see if they had improved the vegetarian range. She couldn’t see anything she fancied so didn’t order. She got a message a few days later saying a box was on its way. So she called to say she hasn’t ordered and didn’t want it but they refused to cancel and she ended up taking delivery of a box of non vegetarian meals which cost something like £45. She was told because she opened the app she had reactivated her account. It’s put me off doing a trial as I don’t like companies that make it hard to cancel or make it possible to place an order by mistake. Plus I saw the contents of her delivery and wasn’t overly impressed. I thought you got prepared / measured ingredients but it just looked like a supermarket delivery with tins of things and full packs of meat. Edited at 12:03 PM. |

I've used both quite a few times over the last 3-4 years, Gousto is FAR better then Hello Fresh IMO, from the quality of food through to customer service. I'm not surprised at Bev's friends experience, if you look at their social media it's full of similar stories.
We're using Simply Cook at the moment, mainly because you get fed up with the recipes after a while so do need a break from them, they can get repetitive. It's a great option at £10 for 4 recipes, you do have to buy your own fresh ingredients, they provide the spices and recipes, very easy nice meals that are so quick to whip up after work. To give you an idea, I ordered the ingredients for 5 meals this morning and it was £32, that's including a half side of salmon. Add the £12.50 for the spices and it's 5 really good meals for 3 of us for £42.50, what I like with them is that you can select your own cuts of meat / fish and get your veggies during the week so they're always fresh. I wouldn't hesitate to use Gousto again, but wouldn't touch Hello Fresh.

Yes we have Simply Cook. Has been a great way to try meals I wouldn’t normally cook.

A big thank you to all of you who took the time to reply... but I have another question
If you bought enough (box) meals for 4 days how did you sort your shopping for other meals oj those days and they days you didn't have boxed meals ? If that makes sense !
