Holiday Insurance
We have annual family travel insurance, and I must admit i did cut corners this year, as we were not going abroad, I used a broker and took out insurance with payingtoomuch.com
We had a summer holiday booked, a cottage in Scotland at a cost of £600, mum dies the day we were due to travel. The death was sudden and whilst she was elderly could not have been predicted. Put a claim in on the day and heard nothing, about 6 weeks ago I received in the post a letter requesting confirmation from the company we booked the travel with we didn't go. This was done, today I see £135 paid into my bank account from FOGG insurance, I've not had a letter or any explanation. Is it likely that after fees this is all we get back? Clearly not the end of the world, but I felt we should have got at least 50% back. |

The only fees would be any excess you had on the insurance. That should be clear from your policy. £465 feels like a very high excess.

I'm sorry for your loss.
When we claimed in similar circumstances we got the full amount back except for our excess of £100 per person so £400 deducted. Best to read your policy document and chase it up. We had to provide a cancellation invoice to show no refund was due from the holiday company and confirming amount paid out. |

Thanks, I will chase, I know everything is mixed up because of Covid. I just find it bizarre they paid cash into my account without explanation. The whole thing has been done via letter too. Not email
