Hi, there are regular buses from Chester train station to and from the zoo, the zoo bus stop is right by the coach car park by the main entrance. If possible I would recommend arriving 30/45 minutes early as they open the front section of the park and the restaurant there serves normal tasty breakfast items plus other snacks. Also you are at the front and beat the scrum going in and decide is it left to the lions and giraffes, straight on to the bats and monkeys or right to the boat and the meerkats. 🙂

Always the boat first…
But absolutely agree with getting there early and going for breakfast. Never done it without the car, but if a pain for us as we’re nowhere close to a train station which would go direct to Chester. If on that route it would be worth it to avoid the usual carnage around Manchester!
