BA ~ special diet

I need to order a GF meal for DS for our flight to LA in October,

I’ve booked and paid for the flights but haven’t pre booked seats (will do that 24 hours before) but I can’t find anywhere to let me prebook his meal?

If you go to "Manage my Booking" on the BA website and look right at the top of the page to a line that says "Go back to previous design". This takes you to a different version of MMB, with more detail. Click on the flight and there are a list of blue tabs (seating, check in, upgrade etc). The one you want is "Special Requests" and you'll be able to request it here. You might need to do it for both outward and return flights.

It's not exactly easy to find, I agree.

There's another way of requesting a special meal permanently in your profile.

We had to ring up for our flights in April, as it just didn't appear in MMB, or anywhere else.

It did show for us both in MMB after my husband had phoned to book us both GF meals. In spite of this, they only loaded one GF meal, rather than two. Fortunately, we had anticipated this (plus I am vegetarian as well as GF, and they can't cater for both, it's one or the other) so had packed A LOT of food!

I would never trust any airline to supply the correct food, if it does I just count it as a bonus, and always go prepared. BA are more than happy to supply hot water for GF pot noodles, porridge pots etc, which we saved for the way home, and on the way there we just took a yummy pack up!

Thank you, this has worked, I would never have found it without your help!

Really difficult to find it and the phone lines are a nightmare at the moment!

The website wouldn’t even let me pay for a flight only the other day and when I tried to phone to sort it they weren’t taking new telephone bookings either! I’ve had to add 1 day car hire and do it as a package to be able to pay for it, this was still cheaper than a virgin flight only booking though!

We’ll make sure he takes loads of snacks on board too! I’m hoping we can get a gluten free sandwich from the airport hopefully!

Glad it worked! I went through a phase of selecting low fat meals because the domestic breakfast in club is a heartburn inducing cheese croissant, but after a Tofu scramble wrap a couple of times (the most tasteless meal ever and they seemed to serve the same thing to low salt, vegan, vegetarian and low fat), I changed back to normal.

Unfortunately the request followed me around as it was still in my profile and I kept getting given this awful breakfast. To be fair to the crew, they were happy to give me something else off the trolley.
