I think you are confused. I don't think anyone has said you can use the park cups at any of the hotels or vice versa. The only time this works is for water which doesn’t need a Universal cup at all. The machines may all be Freestyle ones but the chips hidden in the bottom of the cups are programmed for different locations and number of days.

No that’s right the ones bought in the hotels only work on the hotels and the ones bought in the parks just in the parks .
We bought ours at RPR and filled it there and in the other hotels only.
Just the same as Disney refillable cups

Hi All

Just to jump on this thread , DS and I are going in December. We are staying at Cabana Bay for 3 nights, followed by 3 nights at the Royal Pacific.
If I buy a refillable cup on arrival at Cabana Bay, can I pay for the whole 6 nights and use it across the 2 hotels, or will I have to buy a 2nd cup when we go to the Royal Pacific?

As far as I am aware you cannot use a cup purchased at one hotel and use at another ...

You should be able to if you advise them when you checkin you want 6 days as splitting your hotel stay.
We bought ours at RPR for the whole 17 days of our stay there and when we went for a walk along the garden walk to Hard Rock and Portifino we too the cups and refilled them at both these hotels no problem atall

No. We bought one at Dockside for 7 nights and when we moved to Cabana they were sold out of refillable mugs. We asked if we could pay to re activate the Dockside one and just use that and was told absolutely not that Cabana Bay have their own rfid chip and it wouldn’t work.

In my experience the ones at Hard Rock in the quick service and Portofino in Sals don’t read the rfid chips at all.

I think this has always been the case at universal. One mug for the parks, one mug for the hotel.
