Urgent help needed Hertz, flight canx

Our flight was cancelled yesterday, we're still at Heathrow and were supposed to be picking up a car today from Winter Haven.

Have emailed and tried to ring, nobody answering at Winter Haven.

Hertz live chat have given us the same no. to call and won't help any further! Apparently we'll now be charged £70 for a no show and the car hire will be cancelled.

That sucks. So sorry you’re having to deal with this.

Only thing I can suggest is trying Hertz via DM on Twitter - you might get someone more helpful than their live chat.

The office in winter haven doesn’t open till 9am and shuts at 5pm

Seems like their policy states that within 24 hours before picking up the car you'll get charged $90 if prepaid which I assume is your case.

No booking cancellation fees for pay at the counter.

We picked up a car a day late following cancellation in 2017. Just called the office and told them what had happened, they held the car for us and confirmed that there were no extra charges but no refunds for the day not used. This was Alamo but it’s worth still trying to get through to hertz to explain the situation.

We claimed the missed days hire from BA.

Winter Haven is a small private airport handling only private flights therefore is restricted as to when planes can take off land
The Hertz office there is only open Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm so Uk times 2pm to 10pm
And Saturday mornings 9am to midday so 2pm to 5pm Uk time closed Sundays
When the other poster had tried to contact them the office would not have be open yet
I’ve never had an issue with them to be honest
But next trip as I arrive on a Saturday I’ve done a one night hire with Alamo Brits dropping off at Disney Car care on the Sunday and pick up a new car from there
Saved me £800 on a long car hire including return to airport
I go to,often and for too long to pay the stupid prices being quoted for our trips from the airport
By doing it this way I’ve saved almost £10,000 this year which is a good chunk towards next years trips
I know it’s not for everyone but it works for us has done for a few years now
