Room with a view

I know requesting a room via chat does not really work so if we arrive early for check in will we have a better choice? We usually check in mid evening straight from the airport but this time we are driving up from Miami in the morning.

I remember years ago, maybe even before we had dvc, that they would show you your room on a resort map.

I am not going to the parks with DH and DD so will be at the resort alone and would prefer a room with a view. Usually at SSR we get a room with a tree view🤦🏻

Any advice how to improve my chances?

The only times I've ever had my room requests met have been when i've asked via chat.

That's twice in more DVC stays than I can count, they've never been honoured any other way, I usually get the complete opposite which makes us laugh!

in 17 years all bar 2 years where we got disney springs view we have only had bus stop views or hedge.

I used touring plans this year and got 2 out of my 3 requests. Happy with that! The one we didn’t get upgraded us from a 1 to 2 bed at GFV! We were rattling around in there, the 2 of us.

I don't think there really is a way of improving your chances, other than having a short stay and requesting a room type that has many in that category!

I've actually had success each time via chat, and on my last check in they acknowledged that they could see the room type I had requested and had given me what I asked for! On previous occasions I was unsure if it was down to my request or just luck.

At GFV we asked for a high floor and ended up on the ground. At SSR we asked for 8825 and got it.

Can I ask if using chat how far before arriving do you do the request, please, optimum time? One or two weeks before?
