Trainwreck Woodstock 99
An amazing Netflix three parter documentary on the Woodstock redux in 1999 which started bad, then got even worse.
Amateurs with a hippy attitude trying to run a concert in 99 based on 60s life. Just didn’t work and ended up like Lord of the Flies

Watched the first two episodes last night, and being a 90's teen, I am loving the flashbacks. The lack of infrastructure at such a large event is mind boggling. Its really fascinating to watch.

watched "this is pop: festival uprising" (on netflix - great show!) a while back which goes into woodstock 99 (amongst others - well worth a watch!)
charge excessive amounts for water in a heatwave, plus a lineup where most of the fans are agro bro-dudes, and you're in for trouble. the sight of the mosh pit being just angry white jocks filled me with dread right from the start! will be watching this new doc at some point soon... *edit* binged it all last night. LOVED IT! reminded me of leeds 2000 in some ways (rioting/mud/etc - but at leeds, the mud wasnt made up of portaloo waste, it was just mud) Edited at 08:43 AM. |

Binged this over the weekend... utterly mental how it quickly turned to a **** show
how they ever thought that would work i will never know thousands & thousands of pished up frat boys never going to end well, then you give them all naked flames... did laugh at the "some of them had 3 beers before 11:00" comment mind...
