Gift giving
This year we arent seeing our son and his family till boxing day.
Daughter in law messages me this morning asking can they come and swap presents on tuesday so the kids ( 2 adults and a teen) can have them on Christmas morning. I like to see people open their pressies from us , so boxing day is not long to wait, it's not like santa delivers them to their house now, Shes now sulking and I feel cheated. Dont know who's in the wrong here |

Selfish to want to deprive you of the pleasure of watching your family opening your presents, which is part of the joy of giving gifts to those we love.
Surely she understands this?

OMG how juvenile of her. My sister and I have swapped gifts my mail, all being well I will be in California and she (en facile) in Fulwood, Sheffield. We will officially "swap" ie open them over FaceTime Christmas Day - no way would we not share that way - I want to see her face when she opens hers and her mine (although with the time different of 8 hrs I will be in my PJs and her in her party gear !)

I’m seeing my brother and his family and will be giving the presents to my niece then, it’s so much nicer to actually hand them over.

It's not as if her kids are young and she wants to pretend the gifts came from Santa is it?
I'd, like you, want to be there to see older kids/relatives/friends open their gifts. It's much more personal and there's joy for both parties to be shared.

She’s a cheeky mare ! I’d be a bit suspicious. They are not little children so don’t need their gifts on Christmas Day. I would be suspicious of her motive and hope your Boxing Day get together is happening.
I would speak to your son about it though not his wife. |

She is in the wrong.. what a bizarre thing to ask, what difference will one day make?
I’m another who thinks it’s suspicious and that she wants to back out of Boxing Day,possibly. |

It DOES seem a bit suspicious, I can't see a reason for it?
Is it that they are likely to be short on presents to open on Xmas morning or something? Very strange to ask, and then to be in a mood about you saying you'd like to hand them over.
