I tend to keep it simple and buy the frozen smoothie mixes (ie chopped up fruit) from the supermarket. Add a banana, yoghurt, oats and splash of milk and voila!

Thanks! I had been looking at the frozen mixes so will pop out tomorrow and get a couple. What’s the reason for adding oats? I’ve seen them in a few recipes.

You don’t need to add oats but They add protein which helps fill you up for longer also adds a creaminess to the smoothie.
I always Start off with flavours you like then add to it once you find a base mix you enjoy. Adding veg can take a bit of getting used to but if you get the proportions right they can be really nice. We have various bags of frozen fruits & veg in the freezer so can easily mix & match depending on what we fancy. Dd often just mixes hers with some fruit juice as she prefers then that way but you can use any combo of milk/ milk alternatives or yougurt depending on preference. Personally I’m not a fan of banana in my smoothie so if I’m after a creamier flavour I’ll add avocado instead( the frozen stuff works great) My go to is usually a berry mix base strawberry/ raspberry/ blueberry etc with apple juice if I want it fruity or oats & milk if I want it creamy Dd prefers more tropical flavours like mango/pineapple/guava |
