Have loved reading your trip report, two cities I’d love to visit. Completely coincidentally, DH just asked tonight if I’d like to visit Chicago (big yes was reply) so I’ve sent him to read this. Can’t remember if you have already answered this, but which did you prefer- Boston or Chicago?

Thank you
It’s very hard to make a decision between the 2 😬😩
Boston was more laid back & loaded in history
Chicago was a modern city with amazing views
I can’t choose 🤦🤷As long as there is cake & Dunkin Donuts I’m happy

We had time so told Dave we are walking to Fenway Park before the Duck Tour, time for another donut too
And the reflection pool was nearby

The Tour was good bit chilly in the shade we’ve done SF one before, very informative 😀
Did a bit of shopping no real bargains ATM
2 items from Under Armour that’s it 🤷
Quick walk to Boston Common & pick up map for Freedom Trail

I can’t remember if I mentioned about the safe not working when we arrived yesterday
Well we still had problems this morning with it not locking properly
So I had to carry all the cash with me 😳😫

We stopped at Front Desk at 7.30am on our way out and told them
They said they’ll get someone to fix it
When we returned at 1.30 nothing done
Off I go to the desk again
Can’t be fixed till tomorrow & we’ll have to be in the room while it’s fixed
The manager asked if we’d like to move
I wasn’t sure as it’s hassle, they rung Dave to ask he said it’s up to me
I decided to go for it so we packed up our stuff as we have few hours before dinner and now we are on the top floor corner deluxe suite with 2 views 🙊🙊🙊
We did have a very noisy toddler last night that was crying & screaming on & off all night so at least we won’t have that for the next 3 nights 🤞🤞🤞

Off to Maggiano’s & hopefully a rooftop bar
I’ve joined the e club & got a $10 voucher, that’ll buy my Tiramisu 😋😋😋
Thanks for reading

Room looks worth the change!

Nice meal at the Italian with my coupon $58 for one starter, two meatballs & spaghetti, one dessert a beer & a coke
Way too much to eat should not have had the garlic bread, it was huge 😳
Pre dinner drinks at our bar, 2 cocktails $40 😳

We then got a cab to the Envoy hotel & the Lookout Rooftop Bar
It was stunning 😃
We’ve spent more on drinks tonight than we do in a whole year, we’ve had a great day though

We returned to our hotel to find loads of people outside there had been a fire alarm & the fire engine outside
We were told it was a false alarm no lifts working yet
Walked up the stairs to our room, maybe not a good time to be on the top floor & 15 flights of stairs up even worse after our drinks

I must admit I’m struggling already on the food & only managed 2/3 of my Tiramisu 😫☹️🤦
Sorry guys
But we have been up from sunrise to sunset

15 flights were a challenge after those 🍹

I had the monster breakfast 😬😳
Pancakes were so much better than yesterday 😋😋
Bit more expensive better quality though $43
Needless to say I couldn’t finish it all
Quick pit stop back at hotel, now off to do some shopping

Pancakes look delicious!

A day without Dunkin Donuts 😫😫
I’m ok though 🙌🤞
Lovely weather today still very chilly when we are out early 🥶
We walked lots today all the way to Quincy Market
It was mainly food inside
Found Abercrombie Gap here
Dave had a spring in his step, he loves Gap 🙊🙊
Walked to find Sail Loft where we’ll eat tomorrow
Stopped at Bova’s Bakery too as recommended by Colette, yummy cannoli
Then on to Primark, I know 😂😂😂very busy in here obviously Americans love it like we do 🇺🇸❤️
Next door to Old Navy
Then Macy’s
And the New England Holocaust Memorial very moving

Walked back to hotel dropped our stash off had a rest for 20 mins
Then back out walked to Park Street Station by the Common
$2.40 per journey, very easy to do
4 stops to Harvard
Quick look around here with a visit to Ben & Jerrys for a Caramel Macchiato 😋😋
I’d found us Cambridge side mall to go to, so back on the train 2 stops to MIT & we walked there, of course it had a Cheesecake Factory
I love the waiters as when I’ve left some food on my plate
they ask “ have you finished, are you done “
I reply “yes thanks”
They say “ shall I bring the check”
Me ‘ er no I’m having dessert 😂😂”
Anyway no starter, just as well as we struggled
Steak Taco’s for me, Bang Bang Chicken & Shrimp
Followed by Carrot Cake to share, this is by far the best carrot cake I’ve had anywhere
Dave has a huge haul of BBW 😳😳

Walked back to our Station, then 2 stops
Then walked back to our hotel for 6pm
Dave is moaning his feet hurt 🙄
And that’s why I walk a lot at home I was in training 💪💪

We will be at the gym tomorrow morning then the Freedom Trail on our last day, some rain is forecast though
Thanks for reading

Cheesecake Factory is great, so much choice!

Off on the Freedom Trail before 9
Weather no so good today
Light rain for about 2 hours
We stopped for early lunch at 12 at Sail Loft by the water highly recommend
$58 for Clam Chowder, Cajun Chicken Tenders, Fish & chips, coffee & Pepsi
And of course so rude if I didn’t have a Boston Cream pie
It was lovely
Quick visit to Converse for me
On the way back to hotel went to Acorn Street one of the most photographed streets in the world, it was beautiful 😊
And Cheers was round the corner
It was too busy so just had a photo
Now we are going to pack for Chicago as our flight is tomorrow, found out that his BBW haul weighs 3.5Kg, not good 🤷☹️☹️😫
Dave’s moaning again he’s tired🤦We only did 8 odd miles today
He said he can run swim cycle but walking it hurts him 😂😂🙊 you see he does Triathlons, well when he’s not on the USA Supersize Diet
Thanks for reading

Poor Dave, sounds worn out. Another great day!

Great location right near the Common so if we got lost we just headed for that & with a DD on every corner 🍩🍩
It’s a win win
Just arrived at Boston Logan for our flight, we are early as usual & the biggest queue was for yep you guessed it Dunkin
Rude not to have our final one in the city 😋😋
Forgot we’ve got to wear masks in the airport, making my latte last
See you all in Chicago
Weather is not too good today, thunderstorms 😳
Hopefully will calm down when we go for a little walk for our pizza pie 😋😋
Thanks for following along 🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸❤️

I’m up as far as here now. Chicago will be my next instalment!

Just found this after a search as researching Boston, but now I want to do Chicago as well 😂 Looks like you had the best time, food looked just amazing and I’m so impressed at you both still running on holiday. Great report ☺️ You’ve given me some fab ideas, thank you!
