Please help me decide re passports
Hey all.
We travel in 85 days - returning on 6 August. My passport expires 30 August; smallest child is two weeks old so we both need passports. Please tell me what you would do in my situation 😫 Edited at 10:22 AM. Reason: To add return date |

A British passport only needs to be valid for the duration of your trip for the USA (assuming you are flying direct or via Ireland from UK to the USA).
Unless you are staying for more than a month, seems your passport would still be valid for your trip. You would obviously still need a new one for the baby. |

Aah thank you - I’ve found the information so ambiguous as I wasn’t sure if they’d grant you the ESTA if you didn’t have 90 days on there.

Impossible to answer totally because you haven't said when you're returning but if your p/p was issued by one of the following nations it only has to be valid for the duration of your holiday.
cbp.gov/sites/default/fi...20220316.pd f Slightly different P/P rules if you're flying via the EU. If you decide to renew don't forget you'll need a new ESTA as well as one for your child. Mick

For the new passport (if you’ve not already applied)… please try and use one of the fast track services. Even using that I waited 3 weeks - and todays bbc news is going to send a lot of people checking expiry dates which will only make the wait times longer.

Unfortunately there just aren’t any appointments available, so it’s such a gamble.

Without being all doom and gloom... Just be aware that as you don't have your ESTAs if there were a problem with them and you need to go down the Visa route then they can take months.
Also, isn't there like a 13 week backlog on passports?

My driving license came back in 10 days, despite all the media hype.
So them online, make sure they are error free and say a prayer ! |

I’m just a bit furious with my niece. With all the scary stories about passport delays and even though her daughter has a passport which is valid after we return (direct flights) and a valid esta she has today applied for a new passport for her as someone else “who goes all of the time”told her it needed 6 months. I’ve told her so many times it doesn’t 😡
