Best car hire companies for one way trips
Hi We're planning to pick up a car at Reno airport and end up at LAX roughly two weeks later. Any recommendations for car hire companies who we would be able to do this with? Thanks

Hi, we are doing something similar, pick up San Fran and drop of at LAX, I found this( with amex platinum) to be the cheapest, closely followed by Andy at DFCH.
What I did find was the prices can change a bit depending on what depot you take cars from within a city, so you may want to try a few different ones. I also found the closer I come to the date the lower the prices get( id imagine that there will be a cut off and the prices will still go up, but I saved £600 by rebooking 1 month out rather than 2.) To that pinpoint id recommend having free cancellation, so you can keep checking. |

Thank you That's really useful information. I'll do some research but the trip is not until next year so I'll make sure that if I book early I can change nearer the time and keep an eye on the prices.

I don't know if it's the same any more, but last time I hired a car for a one way trip the price generally shot up when dropping off in a different state to where I rented it from.
On one trip we hired a car from Seattle to San Francisco, and then a second car after our stay in San Francisco and dropped that in San Diego. The first leg rental price was much higher than the second leg, even though the length of time we had each car was pretty much identical. |

DFCH were best for us, this October.
Pick up SFO downtown and dump at Tucson International, 10 days with a Mustang Convertible.. £880 including a £270 mandatory drop fee as out of State.
