Contact lens stuck - need advice where to go
Hi all,
We just arrived last night to Orlando. My mum has discovered her contact lens is stuck to her eye. It is now irritated and red and I can’t see it to help her remove it. Any had this before and had to seek help? Would an optician be the best course of action? She’s tried all the tips to remove it but the eyelid is swelling and it’s not budging. She’s worn contact lens for over 50 years and anything she’s done just doesn’t help so we need to seek help. Thought the optician might be best? If anyone has experience this or knows of someone any advice would be welcome. Edited at 12:34 PM. |

Hi yes definitely try the opticians, that's where I had to go when I got mine stuck.
Is it definitely in there? Has she tried putting another one in (if they're daily) so the one stuck might attach itself to it? (that's worked with me before). I unfortunately have a history of getting them stuck! |

I would contact your insurance to see if they say to pop to a medical centre. If not then look for a Walmart with an optician but call first before you go if you can to save a wasted journey. Walgreens pharmacy may also be an option.

Did she wear them on the plane? If so her eyes may be severely dehydrated and so the contact is stuck.
An option would definitely be your best bet. |

I’ve used some eye drops suitable for contact lenses to moisten my eyes when I’ve had a lens stuck and it’s helped to moisten it enough to remove. Can you actually see the lens? I’ve thought one was stuck before and it’s actually not there.

Another vote for trying eye drops first, might loosen the lens just enough so it floats back into its correct position.

Or bathe the eye in optrex or equivalent - it comes with a tub that you fill and place your eye into.
If not coming out though I'd go to an optician asap |

My daughter says to try bathing the eye with contact lens solution - hopefully mum will have some.
Hope it gets sorted quickly. |
