Where would you add an extra night?
Tentatively planning a Cali trip for October. Thinking 10 or 11 nights :
3 nights LA (usual tourist spots, Santa Monica pier, Universal and WB tour) 3/4 nights San Diego - San Diego zoo and whale watching 4/5 nights Disneyland Would we be okay with the 10 night plan or if we added an extra night would this be best in San Diego or Disneyland? Also is there anything I haven’t put on here that’s an absolute must do? We are 2 adults and a 14 yo DS. |

Have you allowed for transfer days between each location and arrival and departure days?
I would add an extra day in Anaheim, as a rest day between park days. You can go to Knotts Berry Farm, or to Huntington Beach or just have a pool day. |

I would add an extra night in San Diego which is full of options depending on whether you want to chill / do stuff
We did like Knotts Berry Farm which is a very easy and close drive to the DL area of Anaheim. I would possibly take a day off LA and add it to Anaheim to enable that

I’ll be honest - I would sacrifice Disneyland nights because there are so many places to stop and enjoy. I really regret my 3 nights in Anaheim - I so wish I had ditched it now and stayed longer in Pismo or Monterey or anywhere else tbh. I have always wanted to go to the original Disneyland but it didn’t meet my expectations which was sad because I had been wanting to go ever since it opened when I was little.

Thanks everyone, I’ve priced up various options and we really can only afford the 10 nights realistically (my max budget is £9000 for absolutely everything)
So we will do 3 nights LA, 3 nights San Diego and 4 nights Disneyland. Are there any must seed/do’s/eats while we are there? DS is coeliac so will be looking for good gluten free places! Oh and I’m not telling DH or DS where we are going until we are at the airport checking in! It’s been a nightmare trying to plan a holiday for us all this year as none of us can agree where to go/what to do! (I think a combination of coming out of our Orlando comfort zone, not holidaying together since 2019 due to covid and DS’s age!) We planned Tenerife but really DH and I weren’t feeling it, then we looked at Rhodes or Mexico but DS wasn’t keen! I was going around in circles! We have talked about Cali for years and kept putting it off so I’m just taking the plunge and booking it now lol 😂 |

I would do longer in San Diego, we absolutely loved it there. We did the trolley bus tour and got off and on in lots of different locations and also watched a baseball game, which is a great day even if not really a fan of the sport.

So I’m not sure I’ll be much help as San Diego was my least favourite stop on my honeymoon, but I also don’t think you need more time than you have in Anaheim, so I’d probably do a night on the coast somewhere. I enjoyed Huntington Beach, we spent 2 nights there in 2014.

You should very easily manage it on that budget
I do 3 weeks every Feb/March (but every weekend is expensive for hotels) 3 adults and 1 child and i don’t spend that inc spends . Thats a good budget for 10 nights.. I did 12 nights in November between Anaheim and Vegas and inc spends we spent about £6500 and I did a good amount of shopping . Personally 3 nights has always been plenty for Anaheim . |

That’s a very decent budget (I would call it high) for three of you for ten nights. Maybe you’re after nicer hotels than I go for
