Which Caribbean island?

Hi all,

As part of our honeymoon we are planning on driving the Florida keys followed by a 6 night Caribbean cruise next August from Fort Lauderdale.
If possible we would like to book a week in the Caribbean/gulf of Mexico afterwards to relax before heading home.

Anyone who has been to any of the islands views are welcome! We would want somewhere that has nice hotels with a nice pool and is close to the beach. Preferably somewhere that doesn’t have a massive party vibe but at the same time isn’t too quiet/isolated - we don’t want to be bored! My partner likes the idea of adults only but not essential.

We’d also like somewhere that offers jet skiing, beach bars and cocktail bars that bring a bit of atmosphere at night without just staying at the hotel. Happy to go AI but would probably still want to venture out in the evenings.

I know heading out in August isn’t ideal but I’m a teacher so August it is. I’d really like to hear from anyone who went to the Caribbean/Mexico for a stay during this month and which islands have a better chance of good weather!

Thanks in advance everyone.

We went to Barbados for the last two weeks of August. Had a couple of showers, maybe 3 all in separate days.

We stayed at the Savannah Beach with VH all inc. we loved it. Close enough to Bridgetown and lots of beaches.

We went to Oistens for Friday night fish fry which was a great night. We had kids with us so left about 9.30 before it got too boisterous but all great fun.

Hotel had a free hus to pebbles beach were there was jet skis, some floating slide platform and lots of bars.

We did a lovely turtle/snorkeling trip with Cala Baza on a day trip. Also did a day at the races watching the horse racing which was great fun.

Highly recommended it.

Another vote for Barbados, it’s a gorgeous island. We hired a jeep for the day and explored the island. It’s small enough that you can do it all in one day. We had a fabulous holiday.

Do you mind me asking which hotel you stayed in?

I was quite a few years ago and we stayed at Almond Beach Village. I believe it has now closed and is being demolished to make way for a new resort.
