Dining with none of the plan - Nov22 - Updated 22/7 - Day 7
Hi all,
This was our return to Orlando trip after the restrictions and cancellations. The four of us were very excited to return to Disney, me, Mum, Dad and my brother. We flew BA Gatwick to Orlando in premium and stayed at the premier inn the night before. We have one night at a hotel down the bottom of the 192 then 14 nights at Pop Centry. We had reservations for Oga’s Cantina and Space 220 lounge. We have two of each in case we want more than one visit but other than this there was no plan. It was our first trip without the dining plan in quite a while and we were a bit more budget conscious and looking forward to doing more quick service. Pre-Travel Day - Premier Inn Gatwick Travel Day - Wetherspoons, British Airways, McDonalds Day 1 - Denny’s, Food and Wine, Wendy’s Day 2 - Woody’s Lunchbox, Everything Pop! Day 3 - IHOP, Wild Africa Trek, Tamu Tamu, Pongu Pongu, Millers Ale House Day 4 - Everything Pop!, Eggroll Cart, Plaza ice cream Parlour, Geyser Point Day 5 - Everything Pop!, Oga’s Cantina, Epic Eats, Golden Corral Day 6 - Earl of Sandwich, Connections Cafe, Space 220 Day 7 - Landscape of Flavours, Everything POP

Pre-travel Day
We travelled down to Gatwick the night before our flight and stayed at the Premier Inn right next to the terminal. We booked a table then headed up to our rooms to wait. We were flying 9th Nov and our flight got moved up due to Nicole so we were now flying at 9am trying to beat the storm. We had planned to do the meal deal with breakfast but as we were now flying so early we decided against it. I got the gammon with an egg and pineapple This was really good and a big portion of gammon. My brother got the cheeseburger He liked it and said it was good. Dad got the steak pie He’s quite fussy with his pies but enjoyed this one And Mum also got the gammon but opted for two eggs Again hers was a big portion of gammon and tasty. We were full and only my brother got dessert He chose a sticky toffee pudding We all managed to pinch a bite off him and it was really tasty As always it was a good meal here and if staying there will always choose to eat there. Just make sure you go to the restaurant to book your table as soon as you get there if you haven’t done it before check in as we had a wait of about an hour or two for a table of four. |

Travel Day
We headed over to the terminal early to grab breakfast, after a bit of a look around we decided on Wetherspoons. Dad had the traditional breakfast (£11.50) He felt this was just ok and could have been hotter. I had a sausage butty (£6.25) I’m not the best for eating the morning I fly and only ate a bit of it. It was nice but I just wasn’t in the mood for it. My brother got the egg and cheese muffin (£6.99) He added a hash brown for 75p He enjoyed this and thought it was worth adding the hash brown. Mum ate dads toast and the end of my food. The hot drinks are £3.15 and have unlimited refills which was worth it as we took our time and had a couple. We ordered via the app which was very handy even if the drinks aren’t the best as they are out of a machine. For the food, 3 hot drinks and a pint of Pepsi max breakfast cost £37.89 Plane We flew BA premium and this was our menu My brother and Dad got the short rib Both though it was nice I ordered the vegetarian lasagna I don’t like plane food generally and this wasn’t the best. Mum got the chicken, she ate a bit then Dad ate the rest. She isn’t a fan of plane food either. They came round later in the flight with a chicken, emmental & chestnut mushroom wrap. This was nice and probably the nicest plane food I’ve had. McDonalds We went out looking for food around half 6 but as storm Nicole was coming in some places had shut, our original plan was to go to Wendy’s but that had closed so we headed to the nearest open place which was McDonald’s so we could get back to the hotel. Sorry I don’t have photos of everyone’s food apart from mine. I had a chicken burger which was not good. I left 3/4 of it but the fries were nice. Everyone else got burgers and enjoyed, sorry with everything going on with trying to get back for the storm I don’t know exactly what they had. They enjoyed theirs. In total it came to $31.34

It was horrendous, it was over cooked and like fake chicken. It was nasty but the fries were good and everyone else enjoyed their burgers so I clearly need to order better

Good travel day, that lasagna looks so very unappealing!

Day 1
Denny’s After a later start to the morning to let storm Nicole pass we headed to Denny’s for breakfast. As quite a few places were still closed it was quite busy and after 30 minute wait we had our table. I had a cup of tea as did my parents and it was the nicest cup of tea I’ve had in Florida for a while, our server was good bringing us milk rather than the creamer. I had the build your own slam $9.99 You choose 4 items. I had bacon, pancakes and two portions of toast which I was sharing with Mum. This was so good, everything was piping hot, fresh and delicious. The toast was great and sharing the two portions of it worked really well. Mum had the 55+ scrambled eggs and cheddar breakfast $6.99 It was cheesy scrambled eggs with two bacon, two sausage and pancakes. Mum was given everything but the pancakes first as they were on a bit of a delay but it worked out well as she got to eat everything fresh. She really enjoyed it and as it was off their 55+ menu it was a really good deal. Dad got the classic benny breakfast $9.99 Toasted English muffin topped with ham, over medium eggs and Hollandaise sauce with hash browns. Again this was hot fresh and he thought it was really good. My brother got the grand slamwich $11.29 Scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, ham and American cheese on potato bread served with hash browns. He really enjoyed this and everyone else was fancying it, it was a big hit. I’d signed up to the Denny’s reward club not long before we went and I had a 15% off voucher which gave us $7.40 off our bill Our total after discount and with tax was $45.06 We really enjoyed this breakfast and it was our favourite one of the trip. Really recommend it, I know some can be hit or miss our receipt says 7631 W. Irlo Bronson Kissimie 32741 Italian Food and Wine Booth With the storm Disney didn’t open EPCOT till 1pm and only half of the food booths were open. Luckily for me Italy was open, my favourite drink at EPCOT has been the Italian margarita and after cancelled trips I was really looking forward to this. The drink was $11 with tax and was as nice as ever. It’s a frozen lemonade with tequila and lemon cello. Appleseed Orchard Food and Wine Next it was time for my brothers favourite food and wine item, the frozen apple pie. There is an apple themed food and wine booth in the Canada theatre, it was always quite quiet so I’m not sure if people know it’s back there. Frozen Apple Pie drink $4.50 It’s non alcoholic and has a layer of apple pie chunks down the bottom in an apple slush topped with a cinnamon crumble The drink is lovely and light making it quite refreshing. Wendy’s After checking in at Pop we headed out to Wendy’s for food. It’s usually our first night tradition and after our disappointing McDonald’s we had to right that wrong. I have to say my first sorry as I don’t have any pictures. We were really hungry and it wasn’t the smoothest experience it could have been. I’d signed up to their rewards scheme before we came out and had a voucher for $3 off, after putting in our order of the screens it wouldn’t accept the QR code so we had to go to the counter and order all over again. We then got our drinks but the machine wasn’t working for ice properly so our drinks were a bit warm. We sat down to watch the order screen only for the woman to shout over annoyed but she’d keyed in the wrong number lol. We order 3 Baconator medium combos and mum had a son of a baconator medium combo The food was miles better than McDonald’s and it was quiet in there which was a nice break for us. We really enjoyed the food and we would have gone back during our trip but it just didn’t work out that way With our $3 discount and after tax we paid $43.92 Everything Pop When we headed back to Pop we headed to the food court to grab our refillable mugs. For us these are a great value we get drinks each morning and we use the mugs at home a lot too For the four refillable mugs after tax our total was $93.68 |
