Best time to leave Miami?
What is the best time to leave Miami to drive to Orlando?
Early morning or later on? What time is rush hour if there is one?

I would plan to be on the Turnpike, North of Fort Lauderdale and preferably at least up level with West Palm Beach by 7.00am. The rush hour is the same as it is in any major city, traffic starts to move at about 7am and will continue to be busy until after 9am.

Fully agree with this, but should you decide to go later on my personal experience is that when taking Turnpike and using the express lanes on I-95 will relief some traffic before taking on Turnpike at exit 12A no matter the time of day, there will be a small part between exiting the express lane and getting to the exit which can be slowish but is only 1 mile or so.
Sara_toga let us know what you're route would be taking.

To be honest I’m not sure yet🤷🏻
Dd, the driver wants the quickest and I would prefer the more scenic route with a stop of somewhere nice for breakfast.

Seems that I95 is an option, so take 7SeasSailor's advise and get up on the road early and try get to Ft. Lauderdale by 7am, heavy traffic always on I95 lots of big trucks.
It's a lovely road though.

We are staying at the Hilton Miami Airport Blue Lagoon (attached pic) Not sure if you are familiar with it or the area. Would this location make any difference to the route we take?

I'm familiar for sure, I travel to MIA every month for work, that won't affect your route, you'll be perfectly located to take any route you prefer, be it Turnpike, I95 Coast or even US41W to Gulf Coast. I've posted several routes on here with pictures and all, I can link them to you if you want!

Lucky you, you will be very familiar with all the routes then😊
I did actually screenshot your pics from your post. Hopefully they will help us. I am the worrier, DD is the driver and laid back and DH will be in the back to stop him interfering and telling her what to do 😂 She is definitely the better driver over there and full of confidence.

Then you're set! I will soon post the I95 route pics, those posts aren't meant to replace sat nav at all, but it's good to get familiar with the most important places and signs before getting there.
Have a lovely holiday!
