Travelling with a baby
Hi
Really looking for some advice with travelling with our 3 month old baby. Any tips for flying, how babies cope with time difference and also the heat. We travel 28th august for 2 weeks. Any items that are a must Thank you all for your advice |

A pillow for the plane. We lay it across our legs and let ours sleep on there so we didn’t need to hold them and it stopped us both getting hot and sweaty. We found they slept for a large part of the flight (although we’re 6 months when we went).

Virgin has seats you can book which come with a bassinet in front of your seat. Not sure who you're flying with but is worth checking. Not sure if those seats cost anymore or not.

Babies are so much easier than toddlers
Plenty of clothes for all of you for the flight For get the lovely out fits it’s what ever they will be coolest in A buggy with great shade essential a buggy fan Either microwave sterilising bags or self sterilising bottle but if you are breast feeding You need to drink drink drink use the baby care centres A sleep, sac the lightest you have ac can be chilling in the early hours A sling for immigration and the parks especially handy if you are seated at a show and little one needs fed or sleeping I can’t stress this enough take calpol , neurophen from here and enough formula nappies and wipes for the trip nappies and wipes are expensive nappies are sized differently and there is still a huge shortage of formula in the us and it’s different brands than we have here if making up formula use either nursery water or drinking water but remember neither are sterile and need to be prepared the same way as tap water at home Florida water may cause some real tummy upsets at that age But honest it’s a breeze and oh a night light saves putting big light on and waking everyone else if you are in unfamiliar rooms |

If baby is breastfed, ot does make it a teensy easier. Feed when taking off and landing to help with the ears. The humnof thr plane engines tend to lull them to sleep.
As pp said, bring a sling to help with airport travels and immigration. Get a lightweight buggy with shade and clip-on buggy fan. Use the Baby Centres in the park - it’s aircon bliss for half an hour when you feed and change baby. Take it easy. Do half days with plenty of rest. Use Rider Swaps at rides and check where the aircon waiting areas are (usually at the exit of the ride). Eg Dumbo has a play area in the queue and Mision Space has an aircon playgym at the exit. You can also order formula to collect at Boots airside if you need it |

Spare clothes for baby and spare clothes for parents just in case. Definitely get the bulkhead seats with the bassinet attachment.
Highly recommend a travel buggy that you can take in the cabin. We have the Babyzen yo-yo. In the parks, make use of the rider switch and baby care center 😊

I haven't gone with a 3 month old but did with a 1 year old. They adjusted more quickly than I did with the time change. You could try moving their naps backward each day in the run up to the flight but you won't manage to cover the time difference (although I assume that they are sleeping through the night at the moment which might make it harder).
We tried to keep to the same schedule that we had at home and just powered through the first day. Lots of sleeps in the pushchair during the day and didn't worry too much about bed time. I would suggest one of the pram fans to keep air circulating in there. My biggest tip is to try to get as many photos using photopass etc with the whole family in! |
