Packages are usually cheaper. Look on Ba and virgin first then compare with travel republic or expedia. There are some good deals to be had, you just need to spend some time researching.
I've got direct flights from Heathrow to Newark, with United, 6 nights at Hampton Inn Times Square ( breakfast included and no resort fees) for £600 each. We go 19th jan.

We are staying at Club Quarter Times Square right now. Checked in Friday night and are staying until Thursday. It is right near Bryant Park and a short less than 10 minute walk from Times Square. But the hotel location is very quiet and you wouldn’t think Times Square was just around the corner. The room is really modern and comfortable and it was a good price too from Expedia.

A stones throw from Times Square but incredibly quiet - rooms are small but comfy.

staff very friendly and helpful

Hi,
We are looking at this hotel. Do you mind telling me who you booked it through?
Many thanks
Also looking at the New Yorker, any thoughts on this one?
Hope you don’t mind me piggybacking OP, just booked flights today and a bit giddy
