Any update on the Dueling Dragons replacement?

Just wondering if there is any updates or news about the Dueling Dragons(old school)ride at IOA? I heard something Potter related and in 2019 but nothing else since demolition of the old ride.

I'm another 'old school' person. It'll always be Duelling Dragons to me. Luckily I got to ride when the two trains actually 'duelled'. Far more thrilling than running them separately. Sadly it's no more.

Regarding the new attraction, I've heard nothing more than it will be a family ride linked to the Harry Potter theme. I'm sure once something is announced, it will be posted. There's lots of vloggers on YouTube that report on construction work of new rides.

I went on a wooden duelling coaster at Hershey Park last year. It was brilliant, especially in the dark with the coasters crossing under each other etc. Real old school. Like the Grand National on steroids.

As above: all we've been told is that it'll be a Harry Potter-themed family rollercoaster ride with an innovative ride system. And that it'll open as early as 2019 (next year!).

The rumours suggest the ride might be set in the Forbidden Forest, possibly an inverted power coaster or maybe an SFX coaster. Given that they specified it'll be a family ride, I doubt it'll be as thrilling as Duelling Dragons was and will probably be more similar to Gringotts in terms of intensity.

Did you know the Duelling Dragons were originally intended for the "Beastly Kingdom" at Disney's Animal Kingdom.(Look at the dragon on the original park logo). When the Beastly Kingdom idea got dropped the designers approached Universal and Fire and Ice was born.

Universal have decided the current coaster does not fit in with the accurate reproduction of Hogsmeade plus its "footprint" is the size of the Hogsmeade development.

There are several theories: there could be a new “highly-themed coaster experience” to replace Dragon Challenge. Strongest rumors still point to the new ride being based in the Forbidden Forest where guests will be able to encounter many of the animals featured in the films. Another rumored ride system is a motorcycle coaster themed to Hagrid’s bike with a motorcycle and a sidecar option. A coaster with similar ride vehicles does operate in Australia.
Surveys in Universal parks have also asked if guests would be interested in a Potter themed hotel (to rival Star Wars at Disney) and this would require land for its build.

So, who knows? Guess we have to wait until Universal make an official announcement.

I heard this too...and I quote my dear Wife "If they build a Harry Potter Hotel, we're going. I don't care what it costs"
