Can we move or cancel?
Hey Guys,
sorry for the sad post, but we got some awful news yesterday my partners mum has just been diagnosed with breast cancer and we were all planning a cruise and stay in may 2019. We booked with disney a package with flights, dinning plan, hotel at AKL and cruise on the disney dream 3 nights. deposit for cruise, flights and hotel have been paid with balance due in Feb. Although we are hoping that she is well enough to travel, do any of you know if we can move or cancel without losing our deposit? going to call disney in the AM to see options but any advise much appreciated. xx mwah xx |

Definitely give them a call, given the circumstances I'm sure they'll do what they can.
All the best to your mother in law. |

I had similar but with First Choice.
My son was diagnosed with leukemia and they wouldnt allow me to cancel with no loss of deposit but they did allow me to hold the booking so we could go the following year, or even the year after if needed. They did want medical proof though which I emailed to them. They were very helpful and I'm certain Disney will be too. Fingers crossed 🙂 |

I had a similar story, we we're booked with BA. When I explained the circumstances they refunded all of our Money including the deposit. I was expecting to lose the deposit, so was pleasantly surprised.

I was diagnosed with breast cancer in February of this year and we were booked to go in August (hotel direct through Disney) and fly drive through virgin holidays.
We didn't look to cancel, so can't answer that, but were able to move Disney hotel booking with no penalty and managed to go in October (only change was hotel availability). We paid a small amendment fee per person, but were also able to move flights |

We had similar this summer. Mum was diagnosed with terminal cancer at Christmas. She wasn’t coming with us so I waited thinking it would all work out somehow but in the end I decided we couldn’t travel. I had booked everything through Disney and they were really good about moving the hotel forward a year but couldn’t do anything about the flights so we lost that and weren’t able to claim on the insurance either. Mum however is doing great on a new drug therapy and I’m trying to get some very cheap flights for July 2019 and keeping my fingers crossed everything will be ok this time.
