Unfortunately, we have never been during football season but I would very much like to go. I follow college football on TV and am aware that UCF (Orlando), USF (Tampa) and the Miami Hurricanes all had very good seasons this past year.
The Florida State Seminoles, Florida Gators (who both had very bad seasons) and the Hurricanes are the 3 biggest college teams in Florida with the biggest stadia, but UCF and USF are more convenient if you are based in Orlando.

I haven't personally been to a college game, but I would advise you do. They generally have a bigger fan base than the NFL teams & the games are cheaper to attend!
I have a friend who attended the University of Tallahassee (north Florida) & their team have a massive following in the local area - Many of the college stadiums are larger than our Premiership football stadiums & have higher attendance Zoe x

UCF play at a 44,000 capacity stadium on campus just to the east of Orlando. They went undefeated last year so tickets might be hard to get
The University of Florida Gators play in Gainesville which is a couple of hours north of Orlando. They’ve won several national titles and would be considered a national powerhouse. Capacity there is about 90,000 The USF Bulls play in Tampa. They share the stadium with the NFL team there. They generally don’t sell out, and sometimes leave sections closed The other Florida teams are all 4+ hours away from Orlando

Last October we went to a Gators game. My husband played football in his younger days and enjoys to watch it, because of this we have an idea of what’s going on. However nothing prepared us for The Swamp! What an amazing day! We thoroughly enjoyed our day. My daughters are complete fans now!

We have friends who live in Gainesville and also went to a Gators game sept 2016 first game of the season. The atmosphere was amazing, capacity crowd, huge marching band, cheerleaders, mascots, fireworks.
Neither of my kids are interested in football in this country and I was worried they'd be bored as the games lasts over 3 hours but they loved it. We didn't have a clue what was going on in the game but everything that went with it to make a huge spectacle made it a wonderful evening out. |
