*update page eight* Miscarriage/recurrent miscarriage advice

Hi everyone,

Myself and DH have been trying for a baby since our wedding last year and have unfortunately been going through the above, we have had three recurrent miscarriages and are now currently waiting to see a specialist. Not really sure what to expect from the NHS or what the whole process is and I was just wondering if anyone else had any similar experiences they could share or any happy outcomes?

Thanks
Emma x

I don't have any experience as such but I didn't want to read and run. Just wanted to wish you the best of luck and happiness.

Not me personally but someone close to me had three miscarriages and was put on a " baby aspirin daily " and went on to have two healthy pregnancies so do not give up hope .

it's been a long time since I was in this very sad position. After 6 miscarriages I was referred to St Mary's in Paddington to who was then the leading consultant in this field. I actually decided against it in the end as the emotional toll was huge and after many years of blood tests all coming back inconclusive I didn't feel strong enough to face even more prodding and poking.

However, I did go on to have a happy ending - our daughter (pregnancy number 7) was bon in 2001 (but not without incident along the way) and, after miscarriage number 7, our son was born in 2004 (pregnancy number 9).

Things have progressed since then and I think there are many more avenues that can be explored to help people in this situation.

I genuinely wish you all the strength you will need and hope that one day you will find a happy ending.

I had a few miscarriages and self diagnosed after googling everything I could! I took 1 baby aspirin a day until I was 7 months and luckily now have 2 children.

I only did I myself due to the fact the doctors wouldn't investigate anything until I'd had 6 or more miscarriages and my heart just couldn't wait to see if I lost another 3!

So glad to hear you had a happy outcome .
I have just googled about baby aspirin and there is conflicting advice about it whilst conceiving and early pregnancy so although it worked for you for I hope the OP will get some professional advice to make sure this is suitable in her situation .

Hi Emma,

DH and I have been trying for a baby since we got married 4 years ago, and have sadly had 8 miscarriages to date. We had NHS tests which involved checking blood from us both (I had about 10 bottles taken and DH had like one - the unfairness of that!), I had internal scans to check ovaries, womb etc, and hubby had sperm analysis.
All came back normal and we were advised it may still happen for us and to keep trying. We have a dedicated nurse and consultant now, and if we conceive successfully will have our own team, earlier scans and more regular scans the whole way through.
There are lots of natural things which can help support pregnancy; manuka honey, keeping feet warm, and a bunch of other things.

Miscarriages take an incredible toll emotionally, so if you need someone to talk to. Even if it's just to scream about how unfair it all is, then I'm here and I get it. My pm is always open.

Sending some sticky babydust your way xx

Thanks so much everyone for advice so far and positive thoughts. I have read a lot about taking aspirin I was going to ask about it when I go for my appointment. It's just a shock to be in this position as we got pregnant so easily and quickly each time but unfortunately it never seems to stick :-( people make it out like it's so easy to have a baby - never thought it would be such a struggle! Thanks laura- I did try accupuncture for a couple of months but didn't seem to make a difference I still miscarried. Try to keep my feet warm - do yoga- trying every natural remedy i can! I know emotionally I'm an absolute wreck it's exhausting. That's what's the scary thing is most people don't find out a reason 😢 Fingers crossed we both get our happy ending! Definitely might need a chat! X
