We do a whole school secret Santa, but you can opt out and our team do a smaller one which we have at our small Xmas meal, but again, it’s optional. I usually buy a Costa/Starbucks gift card as these can be used for lots of things even if you don’t drink coffee. For our team, I buy something more appropriate to the person allocated, as I know them all better.

Last one I took part in was awful. I got my secret Santa a gift. I didn’t get one! The organiser left me know it was my boss, who was there and had been in everyday, whom hadn’t got me anything... felt very much part of the team. NOT.

I was in a secret Santa draw some years ago, they asked for suggestions of what people wanted or didn’t want...I said anything but a voucher, I bought a gift but the ward sister who wasn’t in the draw took a gift without actually buying one... was a voucher...everyone felt sorry for the ward sister (she was older) and I felt like the above poster... jimmy no mates...

we were doing one but the organiser was slow to let us know who to buy for. I sent an email to everyone on Monday to say it was too late now to buy anything and as it falls on xmas jumper day i will be donating my £10 to save the children instead. within the hour all 21 colleagues said they wanted to do the same instead of buying tatt no one really wants so we are raising just over £200 for save the children and that makes me happy

We do it at work and the presents are given out at the Christmas lunch, when we get to the coffee and mince pies stage. I love it as I always get Disney stuff This was my present last year, a lovely clock. It's made out of a vinyl LP.

I like Secret Santa but it's voluntary. If you don't want to partake, tell the organiser.

I hope it never takes off in Belgium pointless stuff and causing undue stress, especially to men who would then have to shop early

I don’t mind secret Santa but it certainly should be an opt in thing. I saw a perfect gift for mine this year but don’t think she would have found it funny (everyone else would have though) so I wimped out and got something else!
