Help needed. DCL insurance.
Apologies for starting a new DCL (UK) thread.
This is an insurance question for anyone who has booked a 2x2 night back to back (UK) cruise. I’m trying too arrange insurance cover for myself and my mum. Staysure have told me we need two separate single trip policies as the two cruises have separate reference numbers. Please can anyone share their experiences and confirm if this has been the case with them? I first rang Staysure yesterday and they said that one single trip policy would cover both cruises (as we are not required to disembark between cruises), but today they have said a single trip policy is required for each sailing, so I’m rather confused. All responses appreciated. Thank you in advance.

I have booked back2back cruises from 20th September. I have one policy for both cruises even though 2 reservations. Also with Staysure

Thank you so much for your reply.
Did staysure ask if you had 2 cruise references for your back-to back?

I telephoned staysure again, they insisted each cruise on a back-to-back needs insured separately, ie one single trip policy for each cruise. They said we won’t be covered for both cruises on a single trip policy.
They reason they gave is each cruise is independent of the other and has its own reference. (Even though we booked both at the same time and have the same room for both) This has sent me into a tail spin as 2 single trip policies to cover my mum alone (including medical conditions) will cost £440 for a 4 night UK cruise! Then I need insurance cover for myself. I really need to get this sorted ASAP. Have any other dibbers done/doing back-to-back DCL cruises? What insurer did you use? Did you have to buy 2 single trip policies ?

I have just amended the dates on our back2back cruises from 20th to 22nd and 22nd to 24th to 22nd to 24th and 24th to 27th (adding one extra day) Both times I said they were back to back without getting off ship in between. Neither time have Staysure said I need to have two separate policies. Hope this helps.

Thank you so much, this is helpful and reassuring.
I rang Good-to-go insurance (explaining the back- to-back cruises) who quoted a single policy with endorsement. Staysure originally quoted a single trip policy for me. When I rang back for my mum’s quote I was told she needed 2 separate policies. They said it comes up on a ‘live feed’. Obviously I queried this but was told the person who did my original quote (single policy) was wrong, and not valid for 2 cruises. I think I’ll ring Staysure again. We only booked DCL last week, so getting quite stressed with the insurance situation. Thanks again. Have a magical trip!

Ask to speak to Donna at StaySure as she is fully aware of the DCL Staycations whereas others don't seem to be.
Or book with another company?

I think the problem may be arranging a single trip policy? so technically 2 trips on a B2B as you do technically get off and back on again lol.. price an annual multi trip policy to see if it is a huge difference.. but less stress.

Thank you for responding with this information.
I’ve tried a couple of other company’s today. I rang Zurich, but they don’t have anything in place in terms of endorsing uk cruises to the higher level of medical/emergency evacuation cover required by the cruise lines.. I tried ‘cover- for- you’ they do endorse the uk cruses with higher medical/ emergency cover and have pre prepared letters to down load from their website, unfortunately as my mum is 80 they won’t cover her. ‘Good-to-go’ quoted the back-to-back cruise on a single policy, I’ve not used them before, but I think I’ll get back to them. Thank you.

Thank you for your responding.
This is how my thinking was initially; but we aren’t disembarking between sailings on the UK back-to-back. We leave our belongings in our cabin (same one for both sailings) and are allocated a lounge on board for awhile. I did price an annual multi trip when Staysure said two single policies were required; but the price for my mum was £715.15 for Europe (restricted) as opposed to £440.00 for two single policies. So considerably more. The stress continues, but I’ll keep trying!
