December- anyone still going?

Hi!

Wondering if anyone else is still going despite aaaaall the testing? I am a solo traveller and lucky that this won't have too much impact on my trip. As things stand I am still going (19th-23rd.) If anything else changes I think I will probably cancel (all my travel and accommodation has free cancellation.)

My biggest concerns are:

1. Testing positive out there (but feels unlikely especially with the pre-travel test in place...I feel safer in Disney than I do at work or at a cinema/theatre/on the train.) I am going to ensure my insurance covers quarantine if it is necessary (would be pretty poop if it does happen as I would spend christmas in a hotel on my own lol)

2. Getting the day 2 results in time for Christmas (going to book a rapid one from kings cross so hopefully this won't be an issue)

3. More restrictions being brought in whilst i'm away e.g. a day 8 test to realise or even worse France going onto the red list (hoping if this was a possibility we'd be aware in advance but who knows these days!)

For those who are still going- how are you feeling? What are your worries?

Point 3 about France going red, they usually give a couple of days notice & we’re only there for 3 nights so I would hope to be home in time! Who knows though!
I’m still undecided on what to do, although I’ve 40 odd days to decide so anything could change. I’m not worried about testing positive as like you we’ll be doing the pre departure test to get into France & probably do our return test the next day for coming home! So only a day to catch Covid lol
My biggest gripe is we’ve a 13 year old with one dose & she’s due her 2nd one while we’re away, so it’s either do the 24 hour testing or move the trip a few weeks so she’ll be fully vaccinated & won’t need the tests. But again this could all be different by those dates so atm I’m just waiting it out!

If you do get DD vaccinated in time, how are you going to prove it? Do you know what Disney accept? I’m worried DS will be vaccinated but I’ll still have to pay for tests.🙈

We have our Covid app here in NI. Her first dose with QR code is all ready on there so we just need her vaccinated for her 2nd dose to show. Surprisingly our over 12s can have this app the same as the adults which I can’t believe!

Sorry! Yes, I forgot that you were in NI. How can that even be? That kids in NI can show proof but in England, they can’t! Crazy!

It is crazy! You’d think all 4 nations would have the same Covid cert saying as the whole of the EU have the same thing🤷🏻

We have to set up a NI direct account on our gov site. It then needs to be verified, then we download the Covid app & apply for our certificates on that & then they appear in the app with 2 QR codes. Boosters should be available soon on there too.

Currently seated on row 21 of the 14.40 to CDG.
Quite unbelievable really following the latest mad dash to pick up the pre return tests.
Phew! Busy week on tests alone.
Flight more or less full, more children than I expected and a surprising number of people who are still unaware that the respiratory system includes the nose 🤪

Looking forward to DLP. Will update when we arrive.

Yeah, fingers crossed they give enough time!

I don't envy you navigating jabs/tests for kiddies- it all looks so complicated!
