The pre departure test - we have booked Breathe for the Monday of a Wednesday Flight but just read conflicting things that say to be done within 48hrs and not two days before.

Any idea which it is?

No need to do the test 3 days in. Its advisory, just like they say take a lateral flow test every week here; no one does them.

Why would the US go in the red list? It didn't last time.
If it did then the airlines would do like they have done in the past, get extra planes out to fly people back earlier. If your flight was after it did then it would almost certainly be cancelled by the airline anyway.

It’s definitely 2 days, not 48 hours

Well, yes.

My post was based on the assumption that people would prefer to know if they were positive, in order that they don't wander around posing an infection risk to others.

should there be? I am not sure I can take any more changes

I am thinking we might get official clarification following on from the w/end and maybe more domestic stuff if there is another press conference.

Official notice on gov .uk website

gov.uk/guidance/coronavi...ing-to-england

From 4am, Tuesday 7 December all people aged 12 years and over must take a PCR or LFD COVID-19 test before they travel to England from abroad.

You must take the test in the 2 days before your service to England departs. If your journey to England is a multi-leg journey, you must take the test in the 2 days before the start of the first leg.

This will apply whether you qualify as fully vaccinated or not.
