With an automatic machine my readings are high 160/90 but with a manual one - which is more accurate it is much better at 135/75 - suggest you ask them to do that. They're not always keen to do it as it takes more effort. At work we now only use manual measurements

I always have my BP checked manually.

The sound from the automatic machine, raises my BP

I also have Whitecoat syndrome but find when I do my BP at home it's much lower so you get a more accurate reading.

I wouldn't like to say for certain but that's higher than mine was and that's why I've been on a bp monitor for the last 24 hours x

The two readings I had at surgery before going on the monitor were both done manually , with the hand pump cuff and stethoscope , the monitor I had on was cuff attached to a digital machine , must admit I did think when nurse did the original readings it was quite old school cos in past when I've gone to doctors for other reasons they sometimes routinely do your blood pressure and it's with the finger clip

Well the readings I was getting on the machine I was wearing at home were often higher than the result I got when I was measured at surgery 🙈🙈, I just wish they'd hurry up and ring cos waiting is making me anxious ... I'm a rubbish patient , this is why I don't usually bother the doctor 🙈🙈

I've been on BP medication for 3 years now. My original readings were higher than the OPs but it's all been managed by Amlodopine 10mg. Headaches have gone and I've not hit anyone lately! (joke)

The figures are high very high and I’m concerned what will happen when I go back to surgery soon. It was high on my last two readings at surgery over past month which is why I’m on the monitor, trying to be relaxed but every time it goes off I naturally focus on the reading which probably isn’t helping. So I think they will say even looking at averages of my readings my blood is high , would they start me on treatment straight away or is it a case of further tests.
They also think i have diabetes , my bloods were high for that too and I had a second test yesterday and will know the outcome of that Friday.
Heart problems and diabetes run in the family, my dad died very young at 53 with a series of strokes amongst other things, my mum had heart attack in her 60s and has diabetes.
I try to keep active but it’s not always easy for me , I am overweight which I know doesn’t help , I need to give myself a good kick up the backside and I think these tests will be what does that…..anyway I’m waffling but just looking I suppose to hear from people who have experienced similar and how things worked out for you…..trying to take it easy now before my appointment which is why I’m tapping at the keys on here …..thanks for reading xx
Sorry to hear this hope you’ll be ok 💕
My friend had high blood pressure was told to try & lose weight & come back in 3 weeks
He lost 6lbs & his BP went up 🤷🤦
Anyway they put him on the tablets & he’s put the weight back on, he’s 48 & it runs in the family
