First time cruise and stay

Hello, we're huge wdw fans but never cruised before. Tempted to book a cruise and stay for Oct next Yr with 4 nights Halloween on the High seas on the Wish then 8 nights at POP.
We have two boys 10 and 7. I don't want it to feel rushed but love the idea of Castaway Cay - boys love watersports and swimming - and the day at sea to make the most of the ship. Will the 4 day be enough to enjoy the cruise?
I dont know what my ramble is getting at - fellow dibbers convince me to take the plunge - its more money that we usually spend - is it worth it! ?

Definitely 4 nights is the best for a first time, three nights is too short.
If this is a once in a lifetime I would say do the the Wish, especially as the restaurants are more geared to boys. If not there are some great deals on the Dream for a four night compared to the Wish as she is so new. Great combination in my view, and we love POP, we own DVC and still stay there!

Yes agreed - my youngest loves the sound of the marvel dinner! Good to know about the Dream - will have a look. Thank you!

4 nights is the minimum you need not to feel rushed IMO.

Castaway Cay is lovely with a really good slide called Pelican Plunge in the water. You can do snorkelling (rent stuff when there), but be aware that it's VERY tiring and the objects to find are a fair way out.
Lots of other stuff to do though .. floats, water trikes (don't volunteer to pedal!), stingray adventures, trip to a sand bar, parascending and lots more!

I'm doing a 4 night next year. There is loads to do at Castaway if you like water sports etc. Its a great addition. I'm doing cruise then parks just because date wise it worked the best.
