Has this series ever been bettered? I don’t think so - I have downloaded the entire series - narrated by the excellent Larry Olivier. I really think it should be mandatory as part of History studies in schools today. Mind you some might find some scenes make them feel “anxious”.

Should this be included in the National curriculum?

Lest we forget...

I have it on Blu Ray and also recorded on Sky.

I tend to watch an episode whilst cooking but if I do my Wife disappears as she finds it upsetting.

I remember watching it on first release.

Down this road the Germans came. Oradour-sur-Glane.

To the point. I think it would be good viewing for 13 year old children in history lessons.

I too used to watch on a Friday evening at 2100 - hard to think it will be nearly 50 years old soon. It really is a timeless production many with interviews with people who are now long gone. Theme tune which is instantly recognisable. Unbiased ( there’s a novelty) reporting of hard cold facts.

Yes I remember watching this with my parents even though I was quite young. Extremely good documentary series.

The series gave me the impetus to fully learn about iconic figures such as Wavell, Ritchie and Auckinleck. In particular the Great Auck.

In particular I loved researching Orde Wingate. Totally bonkers hence he resonated with me.

His remarkable exploits still resonate within today’s military Tom. The jungle is my least favourite environment (especially as half the inhabitants can and do try to kill you )

Im sure I have read that not 1 day has gone by without an episode being aired somewhere in the World. If that's true how remarkable.

Now who knows the words to Bring back my Bomber to me. Bring back, oh bring back etc etc.

I live in a small Cul de Sac. The main road had an anti aircraft battery 100 yards away from us. There is a picture of the road taken in 1944 with Sherman tanks parked nose to tail for the mile long road!
