How Disney interests change as you get older

Just having a conversation with hubby and realised that when we started going to Disney together, bear in mind we were 18-20, we wanted to go on all the fastest rollercoaster, would think nothing of being in the parks from open to close etc.

Now I don’t like to be in the parks all day long and I’m definitely not so bothered about the rollercoasters like I thought I would. I thought I’d feel like I was missing out last year not getting to go on the main attractions.

I’m not sure if it’s because I’m getting older, even though 31 isn’t that old, or maybe it’s being a parent that’s different but I feel on coasters I see more danger now than thrill.

I’d go every year to Florida if I could but I know when the kids grow out of it we wouldn’t go to Disney for the rides but the atmosphere.

Never thought I’d turn into the “Disney bag lady!” (Not quite there yet but definitely on my way)

Same here. My kids cant believe I was a rollercoaster nut when I was younger. Loved it (could never do the tea cups though haha) but I had my eldest and things started to change then I got diagnosed with vertigo so things changed a lot. I go to disney for a few rides but I go for the atmosphere and being able to be a "child " again without being judged if you know what I mean.

I'm 47 and I still want to go on all the rollercoasters and thrill rides! Last trip I did Everest 6 times in a row but my favourite is Tower of Terror, I did manage 10 rides on it in a day.

Wow. I enjoyed Everest when I went on it, think it was the only thrill ride I really got to do but it was more to do with my 4 year old loving that it made me scream. Now she’s a little daredevil

I do understand what you are saying about being in the parks all day, when we first went we would stay all day and do a park every day, now we like to have rest days in between and not spend so long in the parks. We would also try to do and see everything now we don’t mind if we miss things out, I do however still love the rollercoasters and now the children are older they are able to come on with me as my DH doesn’t really like them!

Yes I’ve definitely changed since having dd(8). Always loved rollercoasters... the more thrilling , the more I enjoyed them. But I now find myself thinking about the safety aspects and whether dd is strapped in properly. I’m intending to go on most things when we go this year, more because I want to share her experiences though... I’ll probably be wanting most of them to be over with as quickly as probably 🤣 I do much prefer ride ‘experiences’ now, like motion simulators etc. And I love to chill and mooch in the shops now, whereas I’d have been storming off to the next ride pre daughter!

Am not far off my retirement date (providing it is not extended again) and still go on all the big rides but dh even when the boys were small was happier on the very gentle rides and has to date not ridden Space Mountain etc.

We used to spend lots of time in the water parks and round the pool when DS was younger as he was a water baby. The last visit we never got wet other than when it rained as he wasn't bothered. He wanted to chill in the room or go to the gym onsite! We also never spent any time in world showcase but now we love strolling round especially if food and wine is on and we can sample lots 😎. We still do the big rides but it's not my favourite bit anymore- I like the shows, a mooch round the shops and some of the gentler experiences. I'm 51 and our DCV runs out when I'm 72 so will be interesting to see what we are enjoying in another 20years and who is pushing who in a wheelchair or hiring a scooter 😂

Perhaps you are subconsciously bored of it or at least over it having been there and done that so many times. I am nearly 50 and love big rides but I only started going to Disney / Universal relatively recently.
