MNSSHP or not to MNSSHP

Hi,

We are all booked ready to go on the 13th October for 17 nights in a villa before heading off on the Disney Halloween on the High Seas 3 night cruise. With this in mind would you say not to bother with MNSSHP or is it a must do event - is it that much different to their usual nighttime firework display. Would it just be a duplication of what they do on the cruise?

Any thoughts gratefully received.

Thanks

It's a totally different show and parade. We really enjoyed it. I don't know the cruise ship will do so I can't say if its worth doing or not. If you're on the dining plan then there's also some different snacks to try that you can only get on the party nights.

i'm planning to go just for a cheap disney fix because I won't be buying proper disney tickets so it's a cheaper way to get some disney in!

I am glad I did it once to see what it was about, but for me it would be a stretch to call it a must do event. It was so over crowded it was hard to move or get anything done. It is by far the busiest I have ever seen Magic Kingdom and for me that is not a lot of fun.

I have to say that I did MNSSHP for the first time last Oct and had been so looking forward to it, but I was so disappointed with the evening.
We walked into the park at 4pm and there was a sign stating event sold out, we didn’t even go at a weekend, once the party got underway it was so over crowded with people everywhere, it wasn’t an enjoyable event and I won’t be rushing to do it again.

We did our first one in 2004 and most recently in 2018 (also 2008 & 2015) - VAST difference and all around the same time (October half term), it's definitely getting progressively busier. Used to be a must do for me, but now I'd only do it if I didn't have WDW tickets, so that would be our Disney day.

Whilst the parade and fireworks are fabulous, it's a lot of money to justify just for them and a lot of waiting in line for questionable tasting candy that's better at home!

Sounds like it may be worth giving it a miss. They do trick or treating on the ship so we can get candy there.

Sound like we would be better going to MK during the day when the parties are on and leave and go somewhere else for the evening.

Thank you.

We made sure our daytime trips to MK were on a day we knew there would be a party and they were pretty quiet. Definitely far quieter than during the party and of course FPs were available.

We did MNSSHP in 2016 and had a great time, but we did it on an evening the weather was awful with heavy rain for the first two hours - the first parade was cancelled and I think a lot of people left. So by sticking it out until the rain stopped we got walk on rides and lots of sweets! They delayed the fireworks and did the second parade as planned, but didn’t do the headless Horseman element.

Edit: as another poster said, we weren’t otherwise going to the parks that trip, so this was our Disney fix.

We did MNSSHP in 2017 & 2019 both were amazing and we had such a great night but there was a very big difference. It was so much busier then 2017. In fact I would go as far to say it was the busiest we had experienced MK at any other time.
