To wear matching ties to the bridesmaids colour or not?
I have a bit of a dilemma... The groom, best man, 2 ushers and father of the bride are all wearing the same matching kilt, shirt, waist coat. The tie that comes with the hire is lilac to match the purple and navy kilt. However my 2 bridesmaids are wearing posie coloured dresses, which is a watermelon pinky colour. I can buy ties in the same posie colour from Dessy (the make of the bridesmaid dresses). I am unsure if it is normal practice to have the male bridal party wearing the same colour tie at the bridesmaids or if I should go with the lilac ties I get. Additionally to add my indecision, should the groom wear a different tie to stand out – like an ivory tie to match my dress?
I need some help as I am very indecisive and wanted to see what everyone else thought? Thank you! |

At my wedding the men didn't wear anything around their necks, but at my brother's wedding the ushers wore cravats to match the bridesmaids. 2 wore fuscia pink, 2 wore rose pink, and the best man wore baby pink which matched the chief bridesmaid. They all had ivory waistcoats. To make my brother stand out, he wore an ivory cravat with a very pale pink waistcoat.
I hope that is helpful - at the end of the day, it's your wedding and you can have whatever you feel like! |

If you decide to use both colours you could always incorporate them within your flowers to tie it all together.

My bridesmaids are in chocolate brown and my H2b wants to wear the pride of Ireland Tartan which is green so all our groomsmen are wearing cravats in a green colour and H2b is wearing Ivory to match me. So our colours don't match but I think it will look fine.

Thank you for the help. H2B will wear an ivory tie to stand out, and I think they will wear the lilac ties as it will suit their kilts better and it can also be incorporated in the flowers.
Yehhh another decision made |
