New York Aug 2018 pre trip report
So we are Team Hunneybell. Myself,DH, DD and DS are heading to the big apple on Friday.
Just a brief pre trip report - Booked flights via net flights £309 direct virgin Atlantic flights. Negotiated free seating allocation based on medical problem by contacting customer assistance helpline saved £240 ( we booked in October before the rules changed) I’ve ordered a low sodium meal as I always find the food salty and DS a kids meal. We will see how these are and might sort meal choices before the return flight. I spent ages looking at tourist sightseeing passes or city passes but in the end I have booked separately. DD will have her birthday during our trip but her age will tip her over into adult tickets. Pre trip tickets I’ve bought are national history museum (I know it’s tecnically free or donations) and skip the line intrepid via a site called ceetiz, I also booked Empire State open ticket straight to elevator line, and a combo 9/11 museum and one world observatory for these I used attraction tickets direct. We will wing the rest. Planning on doing the Staten Island ferry to see liberty and a trip on the PATH train to Hoboken to see the Carlo’s bakery shop and Central Park zoo as requested by DD. DH and I visited for honeymoon 11 years ago and found the sightseeing buses over crowded and spent a lot of time in traffic. DD and DS have been food searching and have a list of places they want to visit stardust and $1 pizza and we’ve been recommended a few places from friends too. I’d like to visit Woodbury common for shopping but I’m out voted 3:1 so maybe I can twist their arms to see a show instead. Xx |

I will follow along too. We go in February!
Interesting about buying your attraction tickets separately. I need to work out how many we will visit and was planning on waiting until Black Friday sales to purchase. I need to calculate prices separately too. I am keeping quiet about Woodbury Common. Family love to shop but I hate it ! Hope you and your family have a fabulous trip ! |
