BA 777-200 seat change

Hello!

We have just had an email saying we have been reallocated different seats (i imagine due to the "upgrade" to the newer layout).

We have been allocated seats in a more expensive price range than our original seats, which sounds great, but we can't for the life of us see what is better about them. Our new seats are in blue, we think we were previously around the red circled seats

Does anyone have any idea what makes these seats better? They are over the wing, so we wouldn't get as good views out of the window. Do these board and unboard before the others?

I’m more puzzled at the price for selecting seats ! They are so cheap ! Just £45 for exit row , I think that’s normally more than £70 .
Is this BA to Orlando ?

Seats nearer the front of the aircraft are usually more expensive, on the basis that more people want to be there in order to get off the aircraft as quickly as possible.

I think those are the prices for us to upgrade, having already payed for other seats.

As for them being nearer the front, so we would get off quicker, i guess we are being thrown off by the big exit signs in the middle. I suppose they are emergency exits and not where you'd actually get off the plane

Yes that’s right these are exit row , as in emergency exit lol, so no you don’t get off there your new seats are never where you get off.

Being over the wing isn’t a problem , it’s not like there are great views anyway apart from just after take off and just before landing . I would prefer the new ones, off quicker.

Unless there is a technical reason (eg aircraft door / gate / jetbridge issue) or a genuine emergency evacuation, BA 777 aircraft will only use the first and/or second door on the left side for boarding and disembarkation. So in economy, the exit used would always be in front of your seat row.

And those big exit signs in your pic are the emergency exits just behind the wings, if you use those it would be down an inflatable slide
