We phoned at the weekend to enquire about upgrading our car - we have a Ford Escape booked.
It was £75 to upgrade to an Edge so we left it as is. The Escape should be big enough for the 2 of us! |

Yes the booking is coming up I can’t modify it as that’s when the error message comes up.

Looks like the prices on the url are indicative only then rather than the actual amount.. Gives a basic idea of any savings though

Could someone help me out with this please?
It’s been a long day and I’m confused 😐 We have group K booked but we’re now worried about the luggage situation. We’d planned to just ask them what we could swap to out there but if I can make a saving by doing it here first I may as well. I’ve logged into my booking, and it shows £287.30 as the rental price. When I go to modify booking it just shows group K. I then went back and selected other options but I don’t really know what order the cars go in, is it just alphabetical and the z is the top level? I did a separate search on BA and that’s not the price order they came up in so I don’t know what to pick. For example if I pick a group Z from the drop down list it brings up Z with a rental price of £262.74, S £222.41 and L £463.76 If I were to change to S would I get about £40 taken off my balance? Tbh for such a small saving I think we’ll leave it and see what we can do there if the luggage doesn’t fit. But I’m still wondering what they’ll let us change to as I don’t know if there’s an order to the groups. Edited at 09:33 PM. |

I find some of the groups confusing too. I upgraded from W to Z which is a bigger SUV, but group L is shown as premium SUV so not always a higher letter.
The confusing thing for me is that on Flyertalk the lists show the same cars in both groups e.g. GMC Yukon and Toyota Sequoia. Maybe the Yukon in L is a higher spec? In terms of the price order I read that it's linked to demand. I've seen mini Vans cheaper than standard SUVs and vice versa. From RickT's last post the price differences are indicative rather than exact. There is a really good hire sticky on the car forum which had a link within it to the Flyertalk Avis information. This is a direct link which has both helped and confused me a bit. flyertalk/forum/avis...ars-class.html Hopefully someone will be able to give some more detailed information.

Your car is
(Group K)Ford Mustang Convertible or similar (Group S)Ford Explorer or similar (Group Z)Chevrolet Tahoe or similar Luxury (Group L)Chevrolet Suburban or similar As your car is a convertable all the other 3 groups are bigger Z and L are same apart from the difference in the spec of the car L being a higher spec more luxury. The group S is a seven seat However what car is shwn in the group is not always what you will get there are many OR SIMILAR in most groups. Avis have many brands of cars in there airport fleets Hope this helps

I must have a decent deal for what we booked, the voucher price for a 7 seater for three weeks is £870, even a downgrade is coming up as more expensive. Useful find though and might keep looking just in case
