We went last week July , first week August a few years back. Weather was hot and gorgeous but crowds were horrendous ... Loads of tour groups too. Never again hence why I'm being naughty and taking the 5 year old out of school next month.

Ive since heard last 2 weeks August are better ?

If you can go after the US schools have gone back (around 12th August) the crowds are definitely reduced. That said, as someone who does not cope well with crowds or heat, I have never had a problem in Orlando in July/August. Planning is the key ;-)

This year the local schools went back yesterday. Here now and I think it's quieter in the Disney parks compared with the end of last week when we arrived. It's very hot, sometimes I think I,m adjusting to it and sometimes, especially in queue lines where you,re not moving, I think I,m going to melt into a drippy puddle.

We went in the 6 weeks holiday last year. Never again!
I think we have been spoilt as all the other times, we have gone sept/oct.
Flights were 4069 for 4 of us! pricing up for next oct flights 2100 for 4 of us :/
weather was stormy and soooooo so hot, we got irritated kids got irritated
It was busier than we are used to but not as bad as I thought as we went towards the end of August when the american kids go back to school.

We were there 01/08 until 13/08, never again. The parks were jam packed, massive queues everywhere, roads too outside Disney were really busy.

My BIL was there at the same time he has travelled Easter and Christmas too and he said the parks were busier than at those times of year, he couldn't believe how busy they were. One day following two days of rain, the water parks were closed due to maximum capacity being reached.

We usually travel the last two weeks of August spanning the bank holiday and the crowds are substantially lower.

I would go the last 2 weeks if I had to .. parks are very quiet when the american kids go back to school, UK kids holidays have very little impact on park numbers

Yes we have been the first 2 weeks of August but it was much better going for the last 2 weeks of August. All parks were quieter, hardly anyone at BG and Legoland but then these are further out. We have always been lucky with the weather only having a few down pors that stop after a short time and then red hot sunshine. ☀️☀️Only one day did we have a lot of rain and by the time we got to AK it soon stopped and got hot again. The prices drop after 21st August too! 👍🏻👍🏻

The last 2 weeks of August are usually best crowd wise. We did this in 2013 & it was fantastic. Here now &the crowds have in Disney were crazy last week, getting better now the US kids are back at school. Labour day is late this year so this has delayed the start of the school year.
This is our 2nd time staying in a villa in Davenport & we live the area. It's nice to escape from the craziness & there are lots of dining & shopping options now.
Flights - 2013 flying direct into Tampa saved us money. This year we have boomeranged via Dublin then LGW - MCO, club class with BA for only £300 more than we paid for economy in 2013!
Universal Hotel - stayed 1 night at the Royal Pacific. Loved early entry & express passes for the 2 days.
Happy planning!
