Lets talk about breakfast

Ok so I loved the hotel breakfasts but now everything's changed.

Im going back again in March with my mum plus youngest two kids (96) Mums gluten intolerant so i'm thinking the new park breakfast is not going to be suitable.

I would normally go half board as we all like proper meals and a decent breakfast.

So whats the best way to get a hotel/good breakfast now?

Ive looked at the Sequoia Lodge Golden Forest room so we can have the hotel breakfast with the half board plan, but can I get better value at another hotel?

Thanks

This doesn't answer your question about the best way to get hotel breakfasts but there are actually allergy-friendly breakfasts you can get with the quick service. Only problem is they are hideous It's 2 slices of the driest bread you can imagine and then a selection of 2 cake/biscuit type things and orange juice. DD only ate the biscuits.

I am coeliac and stay at DLH or HNY so that at least I can have a decent breakfast. There is a good selection of cold meats and cheeses, fresh fruit, dried fruit, fresh fruit salad, hard boiled eggs and boil your own eggs, and a good variety of yogurts. Some of the hot options are also suitable - scrambled egg, bacon, fried potato and baked tomatoes. These were all available at DLH recently. The choice at the character breakfast in PG was almost identical. There may be slightly less choice at HNY, but I haven't been there for 4 years so I don't know. With the hot items I am always careful about avoiding contaminated food by not taking any from the top of the tray, and dive underneath the top layer. Maybe I am being over cautious. I think the cereals are all Kelloggs but I don't know if any are gluten free.
I agree that the special breakfast that is available is awful, and I don't even ask for it now. It's time that they improved it. There are so many new free from items on the market now, it should be easy.

I think in 'value' answer, if you want a hotel breakfast then the 'best' value is going to be club at SQL as that's the cheapest club usually and does provide some hot items. Can't help on the gluten free stuff though. Last time I did SQL GF, there wasn't a great deal of choice that I noticed, but that was a few years ago and of course it has all changed now anyway.

You could stay in a value hotel and pay for breakfast but from what I can gather, it really isn't good value for the price.

ETA - to get hotel breakfast at DLH or HNY you are going to have to buy a meal plan - at DLH it's premium (not sure on HNY), or a straight forward breakfast plan on it's own. This does entitle you to breakfast in the hotel but the meal plan is not cheap imo. If you wanted to buy breakfast on the day it was 30 euros pp (think 29 euros for under 12s) which honestly, is not worth it. So club at SQL is usually better 'value'.

If I pay half board in say Cheyenne do we get a hotel breakfast now? I was pricing up earlier and that the way I read it. Does anyone know if they have gluten free options at the Cheyenne buffet (bread at least)

Sequoia Golden Forest Club looks best option so far.

Thanks very much for the help xxx

Yes, if you pay for the half board, it includes buffet breakfast in your hotel and one meal voucher. It's the free half board (as part of an offer) that only offers counter service breakfast and one meal voucher. So if you're planning to pay for half board anyway, you'll get a buffet breakfast no matter which Disney hotel / room type you stay in.

I'm afraid I don't know anything about gluten free options, or about what happens if you have a club level breakfast included in your SLGF room price, then add a half board meal plan (which would also include hotel breakfast). Fingers crossed that you would get some discount on the meal plan in that situation.

I believe in the instance where breakfast is included at club level, you get a discount on any half board meal plan you buy. I have no idea how much though! It's all way too complicated!

We visiting soon with my 10 year old daughter who's coeliac. Really struggling to find info about where is suitable for her to eat. Don't think she'd entertain the specialist meals they do. Can you recommend anywhere you ate?

I can't really help with eating gluten free in the parks. As I said, we stay at DLH or HNY where I can enjoy a big breakfast. The rest of the day I eat food that I have taken with me; or chips from the counter service restaurants- boring; but even these, are not all gluten free!
If you contact the special needs dept. they may allow you to take a Tupperware type box containing a small amount of food items, which are then stored in the reception fridge. (A medical note is required).
Some places that others have recommended are Annettes, Rainforest Cafe and The Steakhouse in the Village. There is also McDonalds, but items that are gluten free in the U.K., may not be gluten free in France, according to their head office.
The language is a barrier too, unless your French is good of course. Some of the CMs don't really seem to understand what gluten free is, so then I don't bother, in case they get it wrong.
Auchan, the superstore at Val d'Europe shopping mall, has also been said to stock a good range of gluten free foods, though I have not been there myself.
Sorry I can't help more. Disney are no help either. I once emailed their dietition for help, but was simply told that I had to ask at my restaurant of choice when I got there.
