It really is the luck of the draw and who you have next to you. I try to request a non connecting room but we've had a few in different resorts, some we've never heard and others have been a real pain.

I went on touring plans to check which rooms were adjoining so could request one that wasn't. Partly so I don't have to worry about us (the kids) disturbing others as much as hearing other people. Its not always that people are overly noisy, but perhaps just working to different time schedule - so early risers and later nighters next to each other doesn't necessarily work well if minimal sound proofing. No guarantee will get room requested but some corridors seem to have more adjoining rooms than others, so fingers crossed.

I have to say every time I've had an adjoining room anywhere there has been the potential for it be noisy. As others have said, its usually down to your neighbours having a different schedule to yours. If it went on for more than a few hours and was disturbing my nights sleep for example, I'd be contacting reception and asking to be moved to non-adjoining.

We place rolled towels inside the adjoining door and on the inside of our door too. That helps to eliminate a fair bit of the noise. So two towels between the doorways and one on our inside door not the one into the lobby. Hope that makes sense. If that doesn’t get the noise level down call front desk OR go down to the lobby to complain about it. I swear some folks don’t realise how thin those walls really are. Some even refuse to lower the volume of their conversations and I study on shouting like they are in a crowded sports stadium.

Couldn't agree more. The couple having the argument at 1am were incredibly rude when told to keep it down, they really had no clue.

We had an adjoining door and had a lot of noise. It really didn't help that at 11pm next door would shout from 1 end of room to the other (assuming one person was in the bathroom) about the fast passes and would be screaming 😭

It's just luck though isn't it? I've recently had an adjoined room. There was a family of 4 next door and I never heard a a peep from them. Some people are just naturally loud ( or argumentative) and you'd probably hear some of them if they were over the other side of a corridor

We had a similar experience in Spain this summer The family in the adjoining room shouting, slamming doors (day and night) etc. They arrived after us, when I've already unpacked and didn't want to move rooms. They sounded so vile and aggressive that we didn't dare mention this to reception in case they figured out it was us I do wonder whether guests in the rooms across the corridor from us heard the noise as well. I'll be reluctant to stay in an adjoining room anywhere else in the future.

I think this is as much to do with peoples behaviour as anything else, but exacerbated by adjoining rooms. At OKW we heard the family above us every day for 5 days. Their voices, scraping furniture, elephant like walking, music, the TV. Everything that could make noise did so loudly. For the next 9 days we heard nothing and the room above was still in use but by a different family. We found the towels between the adjoining doors at POFQ and Beach Club useful in previous trips. Some people are just loud. I have an office at work with a paper thin wall to the next one. Never hear my co worker or most of her visitors. Have two colleagues where if they are in there with her I can hear every word to the point I can’t concentrate. They are just loud. I hate when they are both in there together 🙄😂

So do you just cover the bottom part of the door with towels or pillows? What about noise from the rest of the door?
