Lowes Portofino Bay for 2 weeks?

Hi,

Me again.

Sorry for so many questions at the moment, we are trying to do a relatively late deal so I'm frantically price hunting at the moment and as a result have quite a few questions.

So after my last accommodation thread on all the recommendations from Dibbers on the best hotel, I was set on on of the Port Orleans resorts and was just trying to work out which one depending on price. However when looking I stumbled across a great deal for Portofino Bay and started looking at photos, video etc and it looks lovely. Although I'm not wholly convinced this is for us over POR or POFQ I thought I'd do a search in the Dibb to see if anyone had actually stayed there for a full two weeks but I came up with very little and nothing much recently. I see loads of people stay there for the odd day or so for the FOLP but can't really see that anyone has stayed for their full holiday. I don't do split stays (did it once, hated it - I do not travel light! ) so it's either or.

So basically I was wondering if anyone had stayed there for 2 weeks and if they had how did they find it? Was it a bit much on Universal for that long, was there enough to do? I'm used to staying on Disney and love that disney magic and I'm thinking we'd lose that if at universal? Also I understand there are other costs such as parking and wifi but I'm struggling to find out how much these are, one person said parking was $8.99 a day and one said it was $16 - if it's the latter that is a definite deal breaker for us! But the former, perhaps.

Thank you!

There are a few people who have stayed in the Loews for their whole holiday. We stay in RPR for 7 nights and 8 nights this year. We love it there! Personally I find the difference in the level of luxury very noticeable from staying onsite and we love our stays there. It is very relaxing having no plan at all. As a couple I wouldn't hesitate.

The only downside is the parking as it's expensive. If you do have a car it's very easy to get to lots of places quickly.

I stayed as a family with my parents back in 2006, so a good few years ago now. We loved it because IOA was our favourite park and we had the car so went to Disney a lot of nights. I wouldn't do it again because I stayed on-site at WDW last year and loved it, so I think from here on in I will always do a split stay between WDW and Universal to get the best of both worlds. Can I ask, where abouts did you find the deal? My partner and I are having a week long stay at Universal (either HRH or PBH) for our honeymoon, along with a stay at Disney of course

Have,nt stayed for that long but do love the PBH as others have said the only issue would be the parking it could add up to quite alot for a 2 week stay.

You know we're much more Universal inclined that Disney Kel, but don't think we'd want 2 weeks onsite there. It is a lovely lovely place though and getting the boat is fab every night from the parks, but we find we only do the parks one day each and there's not enough in City Walk IMO for 2 weeks. I'd much rather be in the middle of Disney and Universal and within easy reach of Idrive personally.

According to Expedia, self parking is $15 per night and valet parking is $22 per night.

2 weeks is a long time at LPB, not enough to do at universal IMHO for even 1 week

Thank you everyone for your replies, really appreciated. I think you guys have definitely convinced me that staying in Disney is better and the parking costs are crazy! Thank you again.

Hi, I used Trivago and the offer was on a site called olotels. It was £1764 for the two weeks for a garden view room which I didn't think was too bad. £126 per night.
