Europe road trip Belgium

Has anyone done a road trip in Europe, more specifically Belgium?
Looking into going the end of next month, getting ferry to Calais then driving through Ghent, Bruges maybe Antwerp and going to Eftling for the day
Would love to hire bikes somewhere for the day
Any tips?

We have done it a couple of times we go from Dover to Dunkirk and drive up to Ypres as a stopping point, this is a lovely little town and we take in some of the war memorials, the Menin gate service etc.
We have also driven to Ghent, Bruges and one one trip Even up to Amsterdam for a few days.
We love it , Belgium is beautiful , we take our massive coolbox which keeps food relatively cold for up to five days which we fill with drinks, & snacks.
We then bring it back with cheeses, sauces and bits and bobs from Carrefour, plus of course a few cases of Belgian Beer ( hotels are usually good at letting us freeze our freezer blocks in their kitchens)
DH usually drives but we take it slow and enjoy the scenery.

We usually drive through Belgium to get to Netherlands. Check out AA website for extra bits you have to carry in car. e.g. reflective jackets.

If you're into theme parks, Belgium has more than it's fair share, probably easier to google it than for me to try and remember them all. We done a "Euro theme park tour" mostly round Belgium but did pop into Germany for a Warner brothers park quite near the border.

The Centre Parks/Sun parks are really good value and you can use the pools as a day visitor.

If you’re in Belgium then don’t miss Bobbejaanland it’s the best in the area.

Also Plopsaland if you have young kids. Phantasialand in Germany too.

Sounds like a fab idea for holiday (currently researching holiday in Denmark with side trip to Gotenburg to tick off a few theme parks) ! Like add Belgium to the list

Bellewaerde is a theme park in Ypres.
Also B & B Carpe Diem just down from the Menin gate or the Novotel Ypres are good we have stayed in both of them.

I just logged in to ask more or less the same question so following for the answers. We’re looking at end of July for 6 days. We have a 5yr old and 1yr old, looking at the theme parks and Bruges, Ghent, Brussels.

Just struggling with where to stay. Those that have done it have you based yourself somewhere or stayed different places? Are you best using park and rides for the cities?
