the call every parent dreads

Phone went around 8pm last night and came up as withheld, I expected it was cold callers so ignored it until the third attempt. The next words were horrific, " I am with your son Dom and he has been in a road traffic accident and the fire service are cutting him out, the road is closed but just come through, he was conscious but has now been fully sedated."

I have never felt so awful, the rest of the evening passed in a blur. Dom has multiple fractures and contusions, including a break in a bone in his neck, femur, sternum, ribs and collar bone. We got back home at 5am this morning and are now in limbo as hospital have said not to go back in until after 2.

Might seem odd to post in a forum but writing it down has actually made me feel a bit calmer.
