The descent is the one that haunts my nightmares lol. I think its the sense of claustrophobia as much as the scares.

We also just watched Eli on Netflix and found the first half very scary

Thought Hereditary was a snooze fest!

Sorry I didn't come back to this sooner, still need to think about it and expand my list, but off the top of my head.
Exorcist; Insidious; Salems lot (the 1980s version); The Others; The Conjuring, Skeleton Key, Brightburn, The Devil, It follows... there are so many.

I love a horror movie!

Jaws
Ammityvile Horror
Exorcist
Night of the Living Dead (original and remake)
Saw
Evil Dead

The one film that I found absolutely awful was a British film called 'Eden Lake'. It could happen and it was horrible because of that!

Their used to be a series on the tv years ago called Dr Phibes
..Vincent Price was in them.
They were the scariest things I ever watched...you wondered what he was going to come up with every week!

I used to have nightmares when I was a child about being chased, knocking on a stranger’s door to ask for help and finding out they were in league with the ‘chaser’ when it was too late...imagine my horror when I watched Eden Lake 😱

I love the old ones, The Omen, The shining, Rosemary's Baby, Salem's Lot, The haunting.or the Haunted (i am not sure) there was one where the ball got thrown into a lake and then later on it bumped down every stair and stopped at the bottom, it still gives me chills.

I don't watch too many as I'm a bit of a chicken but I prefer the psychological ones. I watched Hereditary last week and I thought it was excellent. It was disturbing and I felt so uncomfortable throughout so I guess it did it's job. Acting was great too.

I do not watch scary movies as a rule but my son wanted to watch IT because all his mates had watched it. So I needed to make sure it was ok.
I actually enjoyed it and the child actors were fantastic!
I want to watch the second one but not sure how it will work with adult actors?
I also watched ‘get out’ which was really good
