Opinions please!
Hi everyone,
We have booked POR Royal guest room for next August, taking our two girls (will be 8 & 2.5). We have never been before and it is also for our honeymoon, so it will be an extra special trip. We have been looking at the other resorts and really love the look of Animal Kingdom Lodge so rang the travel agent to see how much it would cost to move resorts and was quoted an extra £1000. We were just after some opinions really from people who have been there, do you think it is worth the extra cost or are we better saving the money and staying put at POR? We have already upgraded the dining plan. Thanks Edited at 04:01 PM. |

Hi - it depends on how long you are staying for, and if you are on QSDP or will the £1000 include the upgrade to DDP, in which case if it's 14 nights, then I would say it's worth it. I haven't stayed at POR, but I hear it is a lovely resort. I have stayed at AKL and it is beautiful.
Edit - I see now you've already upgraded to DDP, in which case, then probably not

AKL is stunning, Is that price for a savanna view, or standard view?

I'm presuming it's a standard room, she didn't say otherwise!

I’ve stayed at both, and they both have good and bad points. I much preferred POR as the food court is bigger and has more options, you have the option of a boat to Disney Springs, the rooms are lighter and brighter and the resort has a lovely relaxed feel. AKL was nice, but not an extra £1000 of nice. You can visit any of the WDW hotels and have a look around, so my suggestion would be to spend your money elsewhere!

I checked on WDTC and the price difference between a standard view POR royal room with DDP and an AKL standard room for two weeks in August is £650. So I would question what the cost difference includes with your agent as it shouldn't be that high.
The price difference would be about £1000 if you hadn't upgraded the dining plan OR if you were booked into a standard POR room rather than royal room. So maybe make sure she's done both of those upgrades on your original booking and also factored it into the new quote! FWIW, I wouldn't upgrade. The Royal Rooms will more than likely be magical enough for your girls (fairy light "fireworks" in the headboard) and the price difference between the rooms could pay for something extra special on the trip.
