Has anyone done this - round the world ticket ?

I�ve done a round the world ticket booked through STA rather than via OneWorld. So not sure how help i�ll be other than having travelled on a similar ticket.

Did it for our honeymoon. One World Alliance so BA, Qantas etc.

Edinburgh - London - Singapore - Sydney - Cairns - Sydney - Auckland - Hawaii (Oahu) - Los Angeles - Vancouver - London - Edinburgh.

Took about a month.

Then did a partial round the world

Edinburgh - London - Cape Town - Perth - Alice Springs - Sydney - Port Douglas - Sydney - Hong Kong - London - Edinburgh

(I think we returned to Sydney from Port Douglas anyway...was over 12 years ago).

That was before I had a child and worked full time lol!

Edit - forgot about Hawaii

It varied..though normally a couple of days at each place.

Singapore was about 3 nights (time to visit the night zoo, do a city tour)

Sydney we took in a bridge walk, day trip to the Blue Mountains

Cairns - day trip out to the reef, one day into the rain forest, day at the pool

Auckland was 2 nights so city tour / boat trip & Kelly Tarlton (spelling?!) marine centre an tower visit for views of the city.

Hawaii - island tour, took in a show, few days relaxing at the beach

Los Angeles - didn�t stay here, just passed through on way to Vancouver

Vancouver - 4 nights in a B&B (Pink Guest House). Cycling near the hotel, shopping and relaxing.

Used a local travel agent (that I knew). I put together the itinerary, hotels, day trips, everything. Took about 20 attempts to get it right and a year of planning. Husband paid for it but it was me who planned it

We used Bridge the World for the second trip and again, I gave them the itinerary and they pulled it all together re: flights, hotels.

I would be hard (but not impossible) to book things independently but may be worth going through a travel agent as they�ll find the cheapest flights and 3 for 2 night deals with hotels (we had a couple of those). If it�s a honeymoon, tell them as they might include freebies (we got a fruit basket and meal voucher in Hawaii), wine in both Sydney and Cairns.

yes we did. London, HK, Singapore, Cairns then land route via darwin to red center, to Sydney, Hawaii, LA, Toronto and back to London.

Best tip is choose gateway destinations to 'add' free stops. Dont forget you can do open jaw flights.

We did lots of driving from LA but returned back to LA due to lack of free slots. We also did lots of driving in Aus but used open jaw privs.

we spent about a week at each apart from a month in Aus and a fortnight in (well N and then back S of) LA.

All was done in hostel accommodation or campervan but was before kids about 12 years ago.
