Disney Online Check In

I'm just getting everything organised for the holiday and there is the option to Check in Online. Are there any benefits for this for someone from the UK? we still have to go to reception to collect our magic bands etc.
I've added a room request to my touring plans page which they will send through, will checking in online help that or possibly cause more problems?

I wasn't going to check in online but now i'm wondering whether it would be better to. All of a confusion today!

We didn't bother last time - also did a room request via TP and wanted to see if we got that and if not, was prepared to ask if anything else available (luckily it went according to plan so all good!) Also had to pick up magic bands anyway - plus I know I am weird but enjoy checking in to be 'welcomed home'! 😊

See these are the exact reasons why I wasn't going to check in online! At least I am not completely mad

I also want to pick up a celebrating badge as it's our anniversary! :-)

I wasn't sure whether I was being silly and I should check in online or whether it was still good to check in in person :-)

I did a Touring Plans request when I stayed at POFQ last year and didn't check in on line. The room I was allocated was a different floor in a different building to what I'd requested. I mentioned the Touring Plans request and they didn't know what I was talking about.

Oh that's a little sad 😔 I'm aware it's not a guarantee at all and is a possible nice to have. we did a touring plans request for Old Key West last time and although we didn't get the building we requested we did get the location and floor level.
Can you add the request on to MDE as well? I'll have to have a look.

Even if you do online check in, you still have to go to the check in desk to pick up your magic bands, so can ask any questions or request a room change then still if you're not happy with what you've got. OLCI just makes things a bit quicker as you can set your magic band pins in advance.

For my stay at Beach Club this September I rang Disney a couple of weeks ago and requested a room near the lobby. I've received another confirmation invoice with my request noted on it so I'll see what happens. I'm staying at POFQ again next year and am going to do the same there.

I was told not to check in online as you will not get the chance, (however slim) of being offered an upgrade at reception.
